After Woods at #1 is when things could go in many directions.
Going into the weekend and prior to the Hardwood Challenge, I definitely did not plan on having Sorensen so highly ranked. He kind of put on an elite display of skill and ability to dictate a game and takeover as a traditional point guard that also shoot the three and distribute at an elite level. He definitely has size concerns and high-level athleticism concerns, but he’s so good on the court.

Payton plays with a great feel for the game and scores well for a PG. He is also an unselfish passer who sees the floor like a grizzled veteran. Sorensen moves the rock and makes the extra pass when needed. He can stroke it from three-point land and once he gets hot, look out! His range runs very deep for such a youngster. On defense, Payton plays hard, he makes up for his size with hustle, quickness, and grit.

Sorenson was a threat on the perimeter on both ends of the floor for RC Select. His activity at the top of the zone was apparent, directing traffic and causing awkward passes from his opposition. He impacted the offensive end as well, spacing the floor a great deal with corner threes and “one more” passes to teammates. Although he was off of the ball quite a bit, when he did have the ball in his hands he did not disappoint. His guard skills and confidence when driving were in full effect as he was adept at playing off of two feet and utilizing his pivots to buy time to make decisions. His awareness and approach to the game impacted the showing we saw from RC Select.
