Expert Analysis
Tony Roe | Prep Hoops Scout
Strasburger didn’t play varsity on a loaded Kennedy team as a freshman but he could step in and be a key contributor as a sophomore. He’s a typical Kennedy guard who does a little bit of everything on both ends of the floor, limiting mistakes, playing strong on-ball defense, and getting his teammates involved. He’s a high IQ player with a non-stop motor, a great competitor, and he should be an impactful two-way player for the next several years at Kennedy.

did it all at The Expo. Around the rim, he was unstoppable. His touch in the paint and midrange was delicate. His deceleration and use of euro steps kept every defender tasked with slowing him down on their toes. And he was very efficient at being patient and finding openings for himself down low. In the midrange, his touch was also very evident. He was great at rising over contests and cashing out with a hand in his face. And he was elite at creating space for these shots with simple but effective moves. His three-point shooting was very much in the same vein. He was a sniper off the catch, and he didn’t need to be fully balanced to hit shots from deep. Rebounding was another very impactful skill he brought to the floor. He was constantly fighting for position and timed his jumps very well to secure boards. And on the defensive end, he showed a propensity for getting steals and locking up opposing guards.

Strasburger was one of the standouts at the Freshman Showcase last season, and he could be one of the standouts at the Expo this year. He’s your typical Kennedy guard – tough, physical, and disciplined. He can play with or without the ball in his hands, can defend multiple positions, and impacts the game on nearly every possession in some type of way.

Strasburger may be the next in the Kennedy production line of tough, skilled guards who can play with or without the ball in their hands as well as dominate the game on the defensive end. He’s a tenacious on-ball defender who moves his feet well and has the toughness and length to defend bigger bodies in the paint. He’s a really good finisher around the rim who loves to play downhill and attack, and he’s a skilled playmaker with the ball in his hands, finding open teammates when the defense collapses on him.
