Expert Analysis
Tom Keller | Prep Hoops Scout
Armstrong emerged as one of the leaders for his Arts squad despite being a new face on the team, and his varsity experience should prove valuable heading into the upcoming season. He showed the ability to score in a variety of ways, including knocking down shots as a catch-and-shoot threat while playing off the ball. His long arms also allow him to disrupt passing lanes and generate deflections on the defensive end. Offensively, I liked the crispness of his handle, as well as his ability to create separation to get to his mid-range jumper. The smooth southpaw plays with rhythm and pace, and one of his most impactful traits is his constant movement without the ball, consistently staying active and putting pressure on the defense. His scoring surge played a key role in helping Arts put away Archbishop Ryan.

The left handed sharpshooter, who was much of himself Wednesday night had a very strong showing against Newark Collegiate Academy. Armstrong was exceptional in hunting his shot both in Payne Tech’s halfcourt offense off ball reversals along side capitalizing off shooting opportunities in transition. Armstrong displayed his smooth and compact release that defenses often times regret closing out late on to.
