As the primary ball handler for this Arts group, Wilson also showed strong playmaking instincts as the season wained, effectively navigating PnR actions, delivering timely pocket passes to rolling bigs and creating opportunities for open shooters out on the perimeter while mixing in scoring finishes. A key factor in his long-term upside is his perimeter shooting, and he showed progress and improvement in that area, as he looked more comfortable with a quicker release and capitalized on open three point opportunities.

Wilson attacked driving lanes with confidence, using his explosive first step to get by defenders on straight line drives, with physicality too, and with his creativity off the bounce to break his defender down and get to the rim, ultimately finishing with craftiness through traffic. As the primary ball handler in Arts’ offense, he also showed some strong playmaking instincts— reading different PnR coverages, essentially creating clean scoring opportunities out on the perimeter for open shooters.

Operating as the primary ball handler for this Arts offense, Wilson also demonstrated his playmaking capabilities, navigating PnR coverages for crafty finishes and hitting sharp and on time pocket passes to diving bigs. Wilson once again looked increasingly comfortable from beyond the arc, showcasing a quicker and more assured shooting release ultimately flashing his ability to knock down open three point attempts as the game progressed.

Wilson attacked tight driving angles for tough and crafty finishes around the basket against Northern Highlands, using his explosive first step to get by opposing defenders. Pivotal to what his long term upside looks like at the next level and what seems to be an emphasis on showing a larger sample size of his three point shooting this season, Wilson looked more comfortable from the perimeter as an outside shooter with a more quicker and confident shooting release, knocking down a pair of open looks as the game went on.

Now entering his junior year, Wilson looks increasingly confident as an outside shooter, looking to demonstrate a stronger sample size of his ability to shoot it both off the catch and off the bounce. Much of what generates the initial intrigue with his offensive skillset, Wilson’s quickness and creativity with the ball consistently stand out as well, allowing him to consistently penetrate the paint— not only finishing craftily in traffic but also generating quality looks for his teammates, both down low in the dunker spot and creating drive and kick threes on the perimeter.

Heading into his junior year, Wilson appears to be playing with increased confidence as a shooter, showing the ability to make shots both off the catch and off the dribble. Using his quickness and creativity off the bounce, he’s also been much of himself, consistently getting into the paint—finishing with craftiness in traffic and creating quality scoring opportunities for his teammates.

Wilson looks to be a more confident shooter heading into his junior year, flashing an ability to knock down shots off the catch and off the dribble. Wilson used his quickness and creativity off the dribble to get in the paint to finish with craftiness in traffic as well as create advantageous scoring chances for his teammates.

Despite being undersized at the point guard position, Ayyub Wilson Ayyub Wilson 6'0" | PG Arts | 2027 State NJ does a lot of things at a high level as a ball handler. Wilson consistently uses his quickness to in the paint and create offense for himself as well others, whether that be being able to use his strength to finish around the basket or draw multiple defenders and dump off to open guys down low. In transition, Wilson does a good job of pushing the pace as he almost always looking to throw the ball ahead and find the open man.

With Ayyub Wilson Ayyub Wilson 6'0" | PG Arts | 2027 State NJ expected to take on most of the ball handling responsibilities this season for the Jaguars, look for Wilson to continue to showcase a lot of the things that make him a good point guard.
