About Cody

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'm a guard who can stretch the floor and shoot it well. I went 4-for-7 from three in my last game and scored 20 points. I can also get to the rim off the dribble and I've been making an impact on defense with my shot-blocking. Whatever my coach needs me to do, I'm ready to do it.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I'm always looking to get better. I watch college film to study how guards play at the next level and try to add things to my game. After every game I think about what I can improve and bring that into the next practice. I stay positive and try to lift up my teammates. I want the guys around me to play well too. I love competing and I love getting better.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I won a gold medal at the Dubai Winter Classic baseball tournament and was named MVP at the 2023 Community Championship. I also represented Saudi Elite in the EYB Cup U14 in Spain, averaging 13 points per game as a 13-year-old. Being a multi-sport and international athlete has helped me with my coordination, competitiveness, and mental toughness.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Playing international basketball in Spain and at a prep school like STM has taught me how to fit in with different teams and adjust to new environments quickly. I try to be a good teammate by staying positive and keeping the energy up, especially when things aren't going well. I'm social and outgoing, which helps me connect with teammates and coaches wherever I go.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My grandfather passed away at the start of this season and that really hurt. He means a lot to me and I wear number 22 in his honor. It's his birthday. Going through that while starting at a new school away from my family was tough, but it pushed me to work harder and play for something bigger than myself.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm looking for a college where I can compete at a high level and continue to develop as a player. Academics are important to me too. I want a school where I can get a great education alongside basketball. I'm open to different conferences and levels, and I'd also consider opportunities to play professionally overseas.
