Back in the top-20, Baskind has been exceptional to start the season, scoring from all over the floor at a high clip against two formidable 6A programs. Reaffirming his abilities as one of the state’s premier perimeter scorers, the guard is a constant threat to heat up quickly once the initial shot goes through the rim. Mountain Vista looks to be a key player in the 6A context, primed for a deep playoff run.

Erupting for 28 points against Smoky Hill and 22 against Valor Christian, Baskind has made some jaw dropping performances against a few of the state’s best programs. Scoring from all three levels, he is in that top tier of scoring ability from any backcourt player in the class. Capable of converting tough shots through contests, opposing defenses can only hope to slow him down with aggressive double teams or athletic wings to limit his windows.

Baskind remains a dependable shooter from distance, ocomfortable on the pull-up or off the catch. A wiry defender who can hold his own against bigger guards and wings, primed for another dependable season on both ends of the floor. He will take on a large portion of playmaking opportunities yet again for Mountain Vista, comfortable contributing quick attempts within the mid-range, even with a hand in his face.

Baskind remains one of the premier shotmakers in the state, comfortable from all three levels regardless of the hand being in his face. Becoming a more fluid ball handler, he is taking on the role of a lead guard in stride. Still adept at scoring out of the pick and roll, his quick release allows him to be a threat within the slimmest of margins.

Similar to Berninger, Baskind is a smooth shooter from a variety of areas on the floor. Capable of heating up for multiple shots in a row, his ability to quickly get the shot off from movement makes him particularly dangerous. Routinely providing production for one of the state’s most competitive programs in Mountain Vista, Baskind has consistently performed at the highest levels.

A lights out shooter, particularly when flowing to his left side, Baskind adds to this group’s potent perimeter play. As if Braketa is already enough to deal with, Baskind is right there to contribute shot attempts off the dribble or following the weak side screen.

is the knock down shooter every team dreams of having. Being able to consistently hit from long range in today’s game is sought out more than ever before, and lucky for coaches, triples are Baskind’s specialty. Aside from hitting his shots, Cal is a pest on the defensive end making steals a priority and creating opportunities on the other end of the floor. An offensive assassin, he’s always in off ball motion, dodging defenders and hustling through to get his open looks from the perimeter.

In what is a rematch from a game earlier in the season where Baskind had a solid outing and dropped 21. Baskind will try to duplicate this performance again saturday. Baskind is a player that is a pest in the passing lanes and gets out on the break quickly after getting quick transition points. Baskind is a great shooter, he has a quick trigger and can get hot quickly if you let him. In the last matchup Baskind was able to knock down 5 of his 7 three point shots and was able to turn 2 of his steals into 2 fast break layups. The Golden Eagles have been playing some stingy defense lately and Baskind has been contributing with some steals and blocks. If he is able to continue this momentum on both ends of the court it will go a long way in getting his team into the final four.
