His team will rely on stronger guard play, and his speed, downhill burst, and defensive energy fit exactly what they need. He creates off the bounce for himself and others and can change games with ball pressure. He’s a true X-factor with room to rise quickly and his role should be established early on.

Brandon scored 11 points with 6 rebounds, 3 assists and a couple of steals against Loveland. Having another guard who can make plays will be crucial for Mountain Vista’s playoff run.

Matchem is a spark off the bench, making strides within Mountain Vista’s lineups throughout January. Clearly one of the better inside the arc shotmakers and free throw creators within that 2027 class, the guard has shown value off the initial drive as needed. Up to 6.2 points per game on 70% inside the arc, his stock is rising while posting 10+ points in three of his last five games. The immediate creation out of his first step alone makes him a dangerous downhill scoring option, set to keep progressing as a decisionmaker through the season.

A high motor guard with plenty of skill along the perimeter, Matchem will be worth the watch throughout the club season and at team camps this June. A dyanmic shotmaker off the catch or when attacking a closeout, the guard is a dependable scoring threat versus pressure. At the point of attack, he is handsy and quick to take away space, certainly a name that competes each possession.

A pure shooter, the guard is adept at knocking down three point attempts off the catch or movement. He looks to be equally dangerous while handling the ball, allowing the guard to fully maximize his scoring and facilitating instincts. Very bright future ahead for the 2027 prospect, certainly among the most skilled in the class.
