is a shifty 6’2 SG who never lets off the gas pedal. Contributing 12 points on 40% from downtown speaks to Burkhalter’s automatic jumpshot. Able to absorb contact and adjust accordingly, Burkhalter has shown immense poise with the rock in his hands. Don’t be surprised when he makes a massive leap in the rankings in due time.
Burkhalter returns to Columbine with a prime opportunity to make a real leap, coming back as the team’s third leading scorer from last season and bringing a proven offensive punch. He’s a smooth, confident scorer with deep shooting range that forces defenses to extend far beyond the arc. When he gets loose in transition, he runs the floor with purpose and becomes a tough cover, always ready to pull up or finish. Defensively he brings great cover skills in man to man and rotates to open shooters which is why Burkhalter is positioned to shine as a key weapons this season
Think about putting up 9.4 points a game, while being the 4th option. You have to find ways to be productive and impact the game without having the ball in your hands as often as others. And Brody has done a great job in doing just that. Brody stays ready when the game comes to him. He shoots the 3-ball, remains aggressive despite not being the focal point of the offense, and stays involved mentally, which could be difficult at times for players. He now steps into a role where he becomes the 3rd option on any given night and still must remain mentally and physically prepared to take over. He will have his nights when his number is called and others where he has to continue to operate in the offense. I respect his ability to adapt and still get it done on both ends. He’s a player we’ve gotten eyes on and respect his game. Expecting another big season for him, and he makes a jump in the rankings.
Burkhalter climbed into the rankings after flashing real 3-and-D potential. He averaged 9.4 points a game on a balanced team, and this season I expect Columbine to go even further. He was able to score from inside and get where he wanted on the floo,r and showed he could space the floor, knocking down deep shots, and guard the perimeter with intensity. He reads plays well, competes hard, and brings energy on both ends of the floor. His role as a high-IQ shooter and defender is vital to the team’s success, and with him on the floor, their ceiling is higher. With a breakout senior season ahead, I expect him to showcase what he’s been working on. He’s a riser!
Burkhalter has shown value behind the arc, set to provide offensive production for a Columbine group looking to make significant improvements in their record. At roughly 6’3, the guard can score above incoming contests, about as efficient off the catch as anyone in this class once provided the necessary volume. Following 6.8 points per game averages this past season and growing confidence in recent showcase events, Burkhalter could be a quick riser once the season begins.
