was dishing dimes with ease against Arvada West, chalking up 6 assists and ensuring all of his guys were involved in the highly productive offensive outing. As a forward, Boykin’s court vision stands out, as he always has his head on a swivel. Also adding 2 steals to the mix, Boykin is a true 2-way threat that defenses need to have on their radar.

Boykin is only entering his sophomore season but continues to sharpen an already dangerous scoring package. He’s firmly established himself as a true three level threat, combining explosive downhill ability with a steadily improving jumper that now allows him to score from anywhere on the floor. His attack mindset never wavers and he puts constant pressure on defenses. With his speed and quick first step, most defenders simply can’t stay in front of him. Add in his consistency as a double digit scorer, and Boykin is set to be one of Columbine’s most impactful forces this year

Very few things are constant in high school basketball, but Dyson scoring in double-figures seems to be a sure thing. I think we will see that throughout his entire career. This weekend, he looked even better as he was flat-out in attack mode. He got downhill every trip, put pressure on defenders, and showed balance between finishing inside and knocking down mid-range shots. When he gets in ISO situations, it’s trouble, and the thing is, everybody knows that it’s coming, but there’s nothing you can do about it. He plays with poise and pace, and when his jumper’s falling like that, you can feel the game bending around him. He exploded for 25 points against Horizon, and that was the best that we’ve seen him.

Columbine is a dark horse team that I am picking early to be one of the teams that shock us this upcoming season. They are tough, they are balanced and the best part about it is, they are young. This will be a group that compete with the best of them and with a young guard like Dyson that will be elevated into a leadership role as one of their best players in only his sophomore campaign, the sky is the limit for this group. As only a freshman, Dyson put up 11.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists a game. He is one of the versatile two-way guards in the entire task and a player that I feel more people will be hearing about soon.

Boykin had himself a weekend and really showed how much his game has grown. With his size and length, he was a nightmare for defenders to match up with. No matter who was guarding him, he found a way to take advantage. He read the defense well, picked his spots, and made things happen. He kept defenders on their heels with his smooth ball handling and control. His shot from range was equally impressive and he was hitting shots from every spot behind the arc. Where Boykin really shined was when he put his head down and attacked the rim. Once he got downhill, it was tough to stop him. He finished strong through contact, glided in for easy layups, and showed nice touch on his pull-up jumpers in the lane. He played with confidence, composure, and a killer instinct all weekend and was definitely a standout performance

Standing right around 6’4, the wing has been exceptional to start the season, already a refined perimeter shooter at this stage. Contributing right around 40% of his three point attempts as the second most in makes for those attempts at Columbine. The Boykin brothers are about as dangerous of a duo as any sibling pair in the state, bringing the skill sets to complement each other’s style of play at this stage.

Boykin has provided dependable shotmaking from distance, bringing good size particularly at this stage in his high school career. Putting up 17.7 points on 47% from distance, he has fit in like a glove into Columbine, facilitating a stronger 2-1 record than the start of last season.

Boykin will be a unique athlete within the class, bringing scoring upside from all three levels. Capable of handling contact in the post or while attacking the rim head on, the forward is comfortable rising up for jumpers from anywhere. Columbine will have a couple of the state’s most talented shotmakers on their hands, looking to be a bit more competitive this upcoming season. His ability to stay in front of quicker guards will be essential for the Columbine forward, needed to play a physical role early on in his career.

Dyson possesses unlimited range, demanding defensive attention the moment the ball is inbounded to him. He can pull up for a shot as he walks up the floor, catching defenses off guard when they relax. In addition to his shooting prowess, he excels in creating opportunities for others and can effectively spot up or drive in transition.

Boykin brings a versatile offensive skill set while stepping into his initial high school season. Bringing in a smooth release either off the catch or pull-up, his range stretches out beyond the arc. Boykin was at his best while attacking the rim, much stronger than the vast majority of matchups. Bringing soft touch with either hand alongside smooth footwork to create advantages deep in the paint, few athletes at the event create as many quality looks as Boykin.
