Anthony’s scoring ability was a bright spot in a tough loss for Minnetonka. The lefty guard is a sharpshooter from beyond the arc, but has a strong frame and good footwork to take opposing guards into the post as well. Really like how he’s added some size to his frame while still maintaining his explosive burst around the basket. Confident shot maker who should be able to improve upon his 7.3 points per game from last season.

– Ortiz is a six-foot-one-inch Minnetonka guard that has been awaiting an opportunity at Minnetonka to show he can get it done for them. If Ortiz shoots the ball from the perimeter like he did this summer for MN Select squad he’ll have no problem staying in the line-up for the Skippers. Ortiz is a secondary ball handler and lefty combo guard.

Based off what I found online, Anthony didn’t make a varsity appearance last season. That certainly looks set to change as he had a huge game in a win over Chanhassen on Sunday. The lefty sharpshooter caught fire from three, and was making defenders pay for going under screens as he had no hesitation pulling up for deep jumpers. He really helped blow the game wide open in the first half as he knocked down a handful of jumpers, and continued that into the second. Also showed some explosive pop with a transition dunk late in the game.

I’m not sure if he is, or it’s just the nice hair that made it look like it, but Ortiz was very fast with the ball. I was shocked at how quick Ortiz was able to get down the floor after a rebound or turnover from the other team. The shooting stroke was also a thing of beauty. Ortiz knocked down two first half 3’s, each time sparking a small scoring run for his team. He also moved his feet well on defense, staying in front of the offense and playing solid help defense.
