put his scoring ability on display Saturday morning. He was getting to his spots and knocking down shots. While also working hard and being disruptive on the defensive end. Expect him to make more noise in the coming weeks.

is up to #6 in the latest 2029 rankings. He was a Swiss Army knife for the Miners this season, scoring, dishing out assists, rebounding, and getting it done on defense. The productive freshman averaged 15.6 PPG, 5.5 APG, and 3.7 RPG. He has the ability to create his own shot off the dribble, and the attention he draws also allows him to facilitate for others. Hawkins Jr. can score in bunches, helping his team jump out to leads or cut into deficits. On the defensive end, he averaged 1.6 SPG and 0.5 BPG—evidence that he doesn’t take possessions off despite his heavy offensive workload. Overall, he’s a high-IQ player, and it was great to see him take advantage of his minutes.

didn’t see many scoring opportunities early for the Miners, but he came alive in the fourth quarter and scored all 16 of his points. He converted tough finishes, got to the free throw line, and knocked down a three-pointer during the late surge. Unfortunately, the deficit the Knights had already built proved too large to overcome.

Alyo Hawkins has taken the reins of the Sunrise Mountain offense and helped them become a very strong unit. He makes sure the ball keeps moving and hands out five assists per game. He can also create his own shot off the dribble, knocking down both jumpers and three-pointers, or going all the way to the cup when there’s a lack of help defense. On the other end of the floor, Hawkins Jr. can be disruptive, using his effort and active hands to frustrate opponents.

is already turning heads with the Sunrise Mountain Miners. He uses his basketball IQ and court awareness to create offense, whether by generating his own shot or delivering precise passes to rack up assists. Hawkins also contributes on the glass and shows the ability to push the pace once he secures a rebound. He’s currently averaging 16.1 PPG, 3 RPG, and 2.8 APG, and his playmaking makes him a player to watch the rest of the winter.

Alyo Hawkins was assertive when he had the rock on offense. He was driving hard to the rim and made tough finishes through contact. The freshman combo guard also connected on shots from the outside. On defense, he was constantly hustling and didn’t take any possessions off. All in all it was a solid performance from him, and I liked how he competed.

is an entertaining player to watch. He has a good motor and utilizes it to make plays on both ends of the court. On offense, his strengths are creating off the dribble, shooting, and he can make slick passes. On defense, Hawkins Jr. can frustrate opponents with his active hands. When he comes up with a steal, he also has the ability to push transition. Overall, he brings a ton to the table and it’ll be great to see how he contributes this high school season.
