Expert Analysis
Delon Bowen | Prep Hoops Scout
Quick, shifty guard that applied constant pressure getting to the basket, showing the ability to change speeds and get by defenders in a hurry. Absorbed contact well for his size and stayed controlled finishing in traffic. Showed a really good handle with the ball in his hands, creating space and keeping defenders off balance. Displayed good vision in the open court, consistently finding teammates in transition and making the right reads on the move. Also shot the three ball well and showed comfort getting to the pull-up mid-range, able to stop on a dime and rise confidently into jumpers.

was both a scorer and distributor for Vegas Elite at the Prep Hoops Bash in the Desert. His speed is one of his top attributes, and he uses it to get paint touches at a high rate. He’ll drive and kick if defenders close in, or get all the way to the rack when there’s an opportunity. In addition to his drives, he knocked down 3s, and his mid-range jumper looked smooth. All in all, the PG played well, and I like how he stays locked in.

had an entertaining and successful freshman campaign with Somerset Losee. The gritty PG helped lead the Lions to the playoffs and was effective on both ends of the court. On offense, he consistently turned on the jets to blow by defenders. He also splashed in 3-pointers and utilized his deceleration to open up his mid-range jumper. On the defensive end, Hunter stayed in position and covered ground at a rapid rate, allowing him to frustrate his matchup and get in passing lanes for deflections and steals.

While Hunter is just a freshman, he’s earned his spot on this list by competing fiercely and helping lead the Lions to a winning season. He is a constant scoring threat on the offensive end, and his quickness gives him a clear advantage against even the most disciplined defenders. His confidence further separates him, as he wants the ball when the lights are brightest. Hunter is also a disruptive playmaker on defense, capable of picking his opponent’s pocket when they get careless.
Currently, he’s averaging 20.8 points per game, which ranks 10th in the state.

‘s steady demeanor never wavered, allowing him to swing momentum in the fourth quarter as he aggressively attacked downhill. He was accelerating through and around defenders. Finding ways to get all the way to the cup. And making the Longhorns pay at the line when fouled. Hunter then buried a three just before time expired, but it wasn’t enough, as the Lions fell 75–74. Still, it was a highly competitive finish from the crafty guard who finished with 28 points on the night.

got off to a hot start against Las Vegas last night. He connected on a 3, a jumper, and made 2 free throws. Giving him 7 of the Lions 14 points in the first quarter. The Wildcat defenders then began to pressure him a bit more, but he still had some success getting to the rack. He had 2 really nice left hand finishes, and a couple smooth stepback J’s that completely shook defenders. Despite the loss, the freshman had more than a few “wow” moments.

just last week, and since then he’s continued to strengthen his case as one of the best guards in the 2029 class on the West Coast. The 4A Losee guard followed up a 31-point performance against Rancho by pouring in 33 points in a win over 5A Sierra Vista. Showing real comfort against older, more physical competition. Hunter plays with poise beyond his years, using his handle, shot-making ability, and pace to consistently create offense despite defensive attention. He’s currently averaging 23.5 PPG as the Lions sit at 4–1, with their only loss coming to 5A Liberty.

put on a show last night. He scored from all three levels and kept the defense on their heels throughout the game. He also showcased his court vision by delivering several quality assists, and he didn’t take possessions off on the defensive end. Overall, it was a top-notch performance from the freshman, and he looks more than prepared to help the Lions win more tough games as the season continues.

has serious acceleration skills. Which makes it hard for opponents to stay in front of him. He consistently knifed through the defense and got into the paint. From there he layed it up or got to the charity stripe. Hunter also stepped up when the game was on the line. He drove to the basket and picked up a foul. From there he drained what turned out to be the game winning shots.
