The best big in OHSAA, Horton has taken massive steps since his freshman year of high school. At a team that won a regional title last year, Toledo St Francis is at it again and hoping to finish the job. Horton is a guy you can throw the ball on the block and watch him operate by scoring with either hand at the rim. Very impressive prospect who continues to get better, Horton will hope to be the first Miami (OH) commit to win Mr Basketball since current Brush Head Coach Chet Mason split the award in 2000.

Horton is one of the most dominant players I’ve seen, and he has the complete package in the paint. He’s big, strong, and plays incredibly hard every possession. He has the touch to score with either hand around the rim, combined with patience and footwork that set him apart. Add in a high motor and relentless energy, and you can see why he’s already committed to Miami (OH). Horton is a great player who is going to make a huge impact in this event.

Horton has been one of the most skilled bigs in the state since his freshman season, with the ability to score over either shoulder at a young age. For Horton, his biggest leap over the past two years has been his coordination and ability to play through contact. Horton has spent less time on the floor and more time dominating in the paint, which has made him arguably the best big in the OHSAA. Horton looks like he could be a steal for Miami (OH) based on his current trajectory, great job by their staff to keep securing top talent.

One of the most improved kids in Ohio, the switch has flipped for Horton in a big way. Looking more confident when he catches the ball and more assertive in the paint, Horton is finishing with either hand at the rim and playing with more balance and control. With multiple of his future college coaches checking in on him throughout the weekend, Horton had to make them excited about his potential as a low block scorer in the MAC and a guy conference opponents might have to double team sooner rather than later.

Horton was a dominant player last year, and this seems to be even more extreme going into his senior year. You give him the ball in the post, and he is going to score it. He will either get a bucket, fouled, or both. He posts up so strongly and clears out space for himself. He does a lot of his work before he even gets the ball. You could see him posting people up and moving them underneath the rim. This basically makes it a simple layup when he gets the ball. He is such a big and physical player. His footwork and patience are always great. He also has a nice shot, so you cannot just hack him. He knocks down free throws consistently, and when he starts shooting it more, I truly don’t know how you can stop him.

A recent Miami (OH) commit, Horton was really impressive with his future college head coach in attendance. Horton is one of the more skilled bigs in Ohio and was a tough cover on the interior with a couple tough post moves off pivots and pump fakes with his back to the basket. Defensively is where I really thought Horton shined as he was active against the pick and roll and jumped a few passing lanes. Horton will be one of the toughest low block players to defend in the MAC but if he can have a defensive impact as well, he’ll be a impact player sooner rather than later in Oxford.

One of the most dominant bigs in Ohio’s 2026 class, Horton was back playing with a mask on and the rising senior was dominant on the interior finishing with either hand at the rim with numerous and-1 layups. When Horton can seal and catch on the block, it’s two points more often than not. Horton was offered by Miami (OH) back in May and certainly impressed the staff with his play today.

This was my first time seeing this style of fast up-and-down pace for Horton and I was impressed. His fluid movements continue to improve. He plays with a good pace and with the speed of the game. He was setting a lot of highball screens near the halfcourt line and running strong to the rim for buckets. He played with high effort and motor. He posts incredibly strongly and when he does post, he is always open. He is continuing to get stronger. He has an impressive feel in the post, patience, and balance.

Maybe the most skilled big in Ohio, Horton is the rare high school player you can throw the ball to on the block and watch him score over either shoulder. Able to pass out of double teams and make quick decisions, Horton is a coach’s dream offensively. If Horton can defend pick and rolls and rebound at the 3SSB level, he’ll continue to add to his already strong list of college interest and offers. Very interesting prospect to track in Ohio’s 2026 class as Ohio rarely has bigs like Horton.

One of the most skilled bigs to come out of Ohio in the past few years, Horton is as proficient as anybody on the block by using both of his hands at the rim to finish. For Toledo St Francis this season, Horton has had the ability to go up against other elite bigs from Ohio and Michigan and has competed on both ends of the court. When he has the room to catch on the block, he usually makes the right decision to either score or kick it out to a shooter. I’ll be curious to see how he looks during the grassroots season because he’ll be surrounded by shooters but also be facing against another quality big in basically every match-up. Iron sharpens iron and that’s been the approach I’ve seen Horton take this season in what’s been a promising leap for him that’s resulted in a few new offers.
