Gavin had a really strong season with Caverna after returning from Victory Rock Prep in Florida. I’m a big fan of lightning thanks to his positional versatility and his ability to score the ball at every level. An active rebounder with a good motor, Lightning is another of the top unsigned players in Kentucky.

Lightning, like Blaackar, has been the recipient of D1 offers previously but recruiting has been quiet lately and Gavin was hurt by having to wait for his eligibility to get cleared up. The big wing has only been able to play for 8 games but he’s had solid numbers of 15 points and 8 rebounds per game in those 8 games. If I were an in-state D2 or NAIA school, I’d be harassing him trying to get a commitment.

Back eligible, Lightning has added to Caverna’s depth of talent with another player with skill, size and length. Lightning had a handful of putback layups in this contest, creating extra shots at the rim. Also able to make shots Vs the zone defense, Lightning had a baseline jumper and a wing 3-pointer to open the game. One of the top available seniors in Kentucky, Lightning provides a major boost to a Caverna team that already had a lot of talent.

Another transfer who returned to his bluegrass roots this summer, Gavin is another of the best unsigned seniors in Kentucky. Capable of playing both inside and out, Lightning holds a couple of D1 offers and has a ton of potential as a D1 wing. In the meantime, he’ll try to get Caverna to Rupp.

Next Up camp was my first time seeing Gavin live in a couple of years. He left a very strong impression and was one of the best players at the event, in my opinion. Lightning showed the ability to score inside and out as well as grabbing a rebound and pushing the break by himself. Gavin has some great positional size and clearly knows how to use his body to finish through contact. We plugged him in at 12th in the rankings update but he’s probably a little better than that. Especially with a big Senior season.

The lone prospect to return to the KHSAA, Lightning spent one season at Bowling Green before a year in Ohio and another at a prep school in Florida. Back in Kentucky, Lightning will be a featured player on Caverna this season as they project as one of the top teams from western Kentucky this year. Earning a trio of Division I offers this summer from his time with Midwest Basketball Club, Lightning has established himself as a versatile forward who can set screens, space the floor and rebound.

At 6-6, Lightning is an explosive, aggressive forward with the strength to dominate in the post and the agility to score off the dribble. His reliable three-point shot makes him a versatile offensive weapon, and now that he’s back healthy, he’s set to make a real impact this season. With schools like Western Kentucky already showing interest, expect his recruitment to continue trending upward.

At 6-6 and 200 pounds, Lightning brings an aggressive and explosive style to the game. His build and strength make him a tough matchup on both ends of the court, while his agility allows him to score off the dribble and in the post. With a reliable three-point shot, Lightning is a versatile offensive weapon. He’s set to make an impact this season after recovering from medical procedures, and with schools like Western Kentucky showing interest, his recruitment could see a rise.

Lightning had probably his best individual performance I’ve seen from him on Tuesday as he hit a couple perimeter shots off the catch, scored around the rim and rebounded the ball. With a strong frame that’s gotten him attention on the gridiron as well, Lightning played physical in the paint at both ends. After playing with Midwest at the 15 U level last summer with a handful of the same teammates, it seems Lightning has found some nice chemistry with this group.
