Expert Analysis

Another player who has held multiple D1 offers in his career, Craine has been the best guard in the 5th region for multiple years. Jaylin has a quick first step and can score the ball at a high clip. Craine has the ability to score or facilitate and should choose from multiple scholarship offers someday soon.

Returning to Caverna, Jaylin Craine Jaylin Craine 5'11" | PG Caverna | 2026 State KY has had a long and productive career for the Colonels and hopes to get them to Rupp Arena this season. Averaging 17 points per game with 51/41/70 shooting splits, Jaylin had early D1 offers but at this point in the recruiting process, he’s more likely to be a D2 steal or even go the Juco route. Regardless of level, I’d be looking at him if I needed a guard who can score the ball.

One of the top unsigned seniors in Kentucky, Craine had a dominant performance to lead Caverna to a comfortable victory in the opening round against Owensboro Catholic. Craine started the game with a time and space 3-pointer, a pickpocket steal and score then a leakout lefty and-1 layup. That started an 11-0 run to start the game and Owensboro Catholic never seriously threatened to take the lead all night. Craine is an impressive passer who uses the bounce pass to his benefit. Maybe the highlight of the game was Craine jumping to save a ball from going out of bounds in transition, setting up the offense and delivering a skip pass to the corner for an open 3-pointer. High level performance by the senior floor general.

Jaylin Craine Jaylin Craine 5'11" | PG Caverna | 2026 State KY is one of Kentucky’s top point guards, holding offers from EKU, Jacksonville State, Georgetown, and Campbellsville. With elite speed and a quick first step, he consistently gets into the paint to finish with either hand, draw contact, or kick out to shooters. He scores at all three levels with a smooth pull-up jumper and reliable spot-up three, while also creating for teammates as a playmaker. On the defensive end, Craine’s toughness and motor stand out as he guards 94 feet and takes pride in locking down the opponent’s best guard.

Craine was showing off his scoring ability at a high level with numerous contested pull-up jumpers, using his tough shot making ability to get buckets. College coaches certainly took notice of his talents as Georgetown College and Campbellsville both offered Craine today. I’ll be focusing on Craine’s defensive efforts the next time I catch him in action.

Jaylin has been one of the best players in the 5th region for the past couple of seasons and that doesn’t look to be changing anytime soon. While Craine is at his best as a scoring point, he can also facilitate and has been able to show that at times this AAU season when he’s had more talent on the court with him. He holds a couple of early offers from Jacksonville State and EKU.

Another scoring point guard, there are a lot of similarities between Moss and Craine. Jaylin is both quick and fast and excels at getting paint touches on offense. He has early offers from EKU and Jacksonville State and could add more to his list this summer.

One of the best small school players in the state, Craine is a big time scoring guard who is a good athlete. Jaylin checks about every box that you’d look for in a point guard prospect. If he were 6’3, we’d be talking about a top 50 player in America.

Another advanced finisher with the ball, Craine is quick and athletic. He can take flight and finish above the rim and is a good enough shooter to keep defenses honest. He’s overlooked at times because Caverna is off the radar to most Kentuckians but Jaylin has the potential to be a shorter version of Mason Faulkner who had a great college career after graduating from Caverna.
