Expert Analysis
Duvalier Johnson | Prep Hoops Scout
McClelland is a player who has shown flashes, but right now, is his moment. What I like about him is how impactful he is. It is not all about scoring with him, and he finds ways to still make his mark when his shot is not falling. He’s a rebounder with a motor; he slashes and runs the floors and finishes. He also stays shot ready to keep the defense honest as well. As of late, he’s been a bit more assertive, and that’s giving him trips to the foul line where he’s finishing from there. He has to continue to find ways to be the difference-maker in games and filling the boxscore. He’s a glue guy that deserves some praise, and we’ve been following along this season.

McClelland is another prospect that we saw play this week. What stands out for him as how he gives Rocky Mountain balance, and that’s not easy on a team that wants to play fast. He can stretch the floor, rebound his position, and slide into a defensive role without disrupting flow. At the Chaparral/T-Ridge tourney, he showed willingness to do the little things—rotate, defend, cut. The next step is more defensive assertiveness, because the tools are there. Still, he’s been steady and reliable early on and a name to know moving forward.

McClelland brings consistent floor spacing off the catch, another name who could creep up into Rocky Moutnain’s rotation full of quickly progressing 2026 assets. With great instincts on the defensive end, he works hard to intercept passing lanes, contributing towards fast breaks whenever possible.

McClelland will be another key up and coming floor spacer at Rocky Mountain, boasting a smooth release with a frame to shoot over the defense. He proved himself as a steady contributor out behind the arc with NOCO Triple Threat . Getting some run for varsity last season, the guard should be set this coming season, after adding strength and improving his decision making in the halfcourt. Defensively, his wide reach allows him to intercept passing lanes, at his best in the help side.
