Over the next few months, 2021 and 2022 will be our focus and more attention will be paid to 2023 and even 2024 prospects. Here’s a look at Kentucky’s top floor general point guards in the 2022 Class.
Christian Spalding Christian Spalding 6'4" | PG Evangel Christian | 2022 State KY , Eastern – Spalding is a more than capable scorer but he’s also the only point guard on this list who is given the responsibility and freedom to call the offensive plays for the Eagles. When it comes to a “floor general” there may not be anything more pure than holding that responsibility. Especially when most high school coaches like to call all the shots on the floor.
Turner Buttry Turner Buttry 5'11" | PG Bowling Green | 2022 State KY , Bowling Green – Turner plays almost as much off the ball as he does on it so he doesn’t always get the responsibility of running the offense. While he is a knockdown shooter, his future at the next level will depend on showing his ability to handle pressure and run the offense for the Purples.
Miles Franklin Miles Franklin 6'2" | PG Ballard | 2023 State KY , Trinity – Trinity is known for their lockdown defense in the half court but one thing that gets overlooked is how many sets they run on the varsity level. It takes a high IQ to run the various plays and Miles has become the straw that stirs the drink for the Rocks. He’s not quite David Johnson at the point guard spot right now, but the potential is there.
Aden Slone Aden Slone 5'9" | PG George Rogers Clark | 2022 State KY , Danville – One of the most exciting players to watch with the ball in his hands, Slone is extremely shifty and a great passer. He would prefer a great no look assist over a score for himself. They don’t run a ton of sets at Danville but that suits Aden just fine as he’s at his best in the full court where he can distribute the ball all over the floor.
Brian Griffith Brian Griffith 5'9" | PG Owensboro Catholic | 2023 State KY , Owensboro Catholic – One of the least heralded players in our 2022 rankings, Griffith flies under the radar a lot but the Aces would never have gotten near becoming 3rd Region champions if he hadn’t emerged this season as the go to player for Coach Riley’s program. Brian is a willing passer but won’t hesitate to take a shot if left open.
