First TEAM
G – Langston Reynolds Langston Reynolds 6'4" | CG Colorado Prep | 2022 State #172 Nation CO – Denver East
Reynolds went into the season as the No.1 sophomore in the land, and after a second season, as he had, he will head into junior year as No.1 in the class. No other player in the class had quite the year that he had as the All-State honorable mention was able to lead the East Angels to a 21-4 overall record. The 6’4 guard punished rims in the open court as he finished with 17.8 points a game and also had 6.9 rebounds to go along with it. If that were not enough, he also dished out 3.4 assists and recorded just under three steals a game. There are not many players in the state that get to the rim as easy as Reynolds does, and he also is a solid finisher that uses his strength and size. There are high expectations for him heading into a highly anticipated junior season, and he will use the momentum that he built this year as a kickstart. Reynolds was an easy decision for our 1st team, All-Sophomore unit.
G – Sam Howery Sam Howery 6'1" | PG St. Mary’s | 2022 State CO – St. Mary’s
Howery is leading the sophomore class in points, and it is not even close. In two seasons, Howery is already at 826 points after finishing with 493 points this season, and the scariest part about it is he is just as good of a passer. Howery led St.Mary’s to a 19-5 overall record as he scored, dished, rebounded, and defended at an extremely high level. Howery was a stat-stuffing machine that led the conference in almost every single category. He was able to put 17.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 3.6 steals a game. He was the vocal leader of the team despite being an underclassman and put his team in positions to win. I am excited to see how many points he can score with two more seasons ahead of him, as I feel he is one of the state’s most underrated scorers.
G –Quis Davis – Denver East
Davis is a player that jumped onto the scene in his sophomore season despite being a relatively unknown name but put the state on notice this year as one of the true point guards and best passers no matter the age. Davis was amongst the top of 5A in assists as he averaged 10.4 points and 6.7 assists a game. To add to his solid season, he was one of the best on-ball defenders in 5A as he averaged 3.1 steals a game and turned those turnovers into scoring opportunities. He has a good feel for the game as a high IQ guard that is capable of exploding for massive games. Davis went off for 42 points in a game and also had 11 assists in a game on multiple occasions. Davis is a player that understands how to break defenses down, and his ability to read what the defense is giving him separates him from most guards in the state.
G- Jackson Keil Jackson Keil 6'1" | CG Sterling | 2022 State CO – Sterling
Keil is a player that often went overlooked, but the work that he put in this season as one of the reasons that Sterling was in the Final 4 with a chance to win it all this season. Keil has an excellent feel for the game as an elite passer that also lets it fly from deep. Keil was one of the best scoring underclassmen in the conference, and he was one of the Tigers’ most reliable offensive options. Keil averaged 12.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists a game. He was a starter for Sterling in his second season, and in Sterling’s final win against Vanguard, he was able to go off for 16 points as he knocked down his shots, got to the FT line and also found the open man. With the majority of this special Sterling unit graduating, it will be up to Keil to take on the majority of the work, and the Tigers understand that their future is in great hands with Keil.
F – Brock Wisne Brock Wisne 6'9" | PF Colorado Prep | 2022 State CO – Horizon
To conclude our 1st-Team is Brock Wisne Brock Wisne 6'9" | PF Colorado Prep | 2022 State CO . Wisne is a talented forward that can put the ball on the floor and break defenders down off of the dribble but also possesses the strength and size to go down low and finish as well. The 6’7 do-it-all forward scored double figures in all but two games this year as he averaged 16.2 points and also grabbed 10.0 rebounds a game as well. Wisne is a big man that obviously puts in the work to add to the rest of his game, and that was all on display as Wisne had one of the best seasons in all of the conference in only his sophomore season. Wisne makes this Horizon team just a bit more interesting as that is a group that we will surely hear about in the next two seasons.
