Top 5:
- David Johnson, Trinity – Johnson is an elite talent in the last decade of our state. If he chose to be a more selfish player, he could post gaudy numbers. David has the size and athleticism to play in the NBA one day and should be expected to compete for playing time at Louisville next season, possibly even start.
- Dontaie Allen, Pendleton County – More like a 1A in the class than a number two, Dontaie missed out on a possibly legendary season when he suffered a torn ACL in December. Allen still won Mr. Basketball and should be expected to compete for playing time at Kentucky next season if his rehab stays on schedule.
- Dekeyvan Tandy, University Heights Academy – KyKy is an elite offensive player whose ability to score likely gets him on the floor at Xavier next season. If Tandy will put the same effort in on the defensive end as he does on offense, he can be a pro by the time his Xavier career ends.
- Isaiah Cozart, Madison Central – Cozart is the leading shot blocker in Kentucky history and progressed to become a better offensive player over his career. Isaiah ended his high school career as a 20 point per game scorer and projects very well to the college level next season where he will play at Western Kentucky.
- Kyle Rode, Lexington Christian Academy – Kyle will go down as one of the best, if not the best, player in Lexington history. He broke the career scoring record in the city and did it all for the Eagles over the course of his career. He will play his collegiate ball at Liberty.
The Next 5:
- Michael Moreno, Scott County – Moreno had one of the best careers of anyone in the state in the 2019 class. 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds along with 3 regional titles. Michael is the best unsigned prospect left in Kentucky.
- Dieonte Miles, Walton-Verona – Finally starting to reach his potential, Miles had a big Senior season and helped get Walton-Verona to the Elite 8 of the state tournament. He’ll hope to see the floor at Xavier next season but a redshirt wouldn’t be the worst idea.
- Jackson Harlan, Clinton County – One of the first 2019s to commit, Harlan heads to Bowling Green and Western Kentucky next season. Harlan is a skilled scorer that is a better athlete than he gets credit for.
- Jacob Hobbs, Central Hardin – Long and athletic, Hobbs is headed to Nashville as part of Lipscomb’s recruiting class. Two seasons ago, Hobbs was primarily a football quarterback but his game made some serious strides and his motor never stops.
- JJ Kalakon, Waggener – Another of Kentucky’s best unsigned Seniors, Kalakon is a do-it-all type of player who offers some versatility on both ends of the floor. It remains to be seen where he’ll play his college basketball but JJ could be a steal in the late signing period.
