Now that the calendar has turned from 2018 to 2019 and most teams have entered conference play, let’s take a look at the 11th– through 15th-the leading scorers in Colorado’s Class 4A and how they’re getting it done.
NOTE: The scoring leaderboard has changed significantly since we began publishing this list, so there will be several new additions who have moved up in the standings and will be included on this list. Any scorers who were listed among 4A’s top 10 scorers in our previous lists will be left out.
6. Chris Bowerman, 6-1, G, Standley Lake, 2019, 19.9 ppg
Browerman has shot up the state’s list of leading scorers in 4A after scoring 29, 29, 29, 26, 36, and 29 points in his last six games. The Gators senior is averaging 19.9 points, 2.5 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game, and is shooting 43 percent from both the field and 3-point range.
8. Owen Koonce, 6-4, F/G, Centaurus, 2020, 19.0 ppg
A leading force on what has been a surprising Centaurus club this winter, Koonce is scoring his 19.0 point per game extremely efficiently by shooting 56 percent. He is also grabbing 6.3 rebounds per game and hitting 34 percent from 3-point range, where he is shooting the ball with more regularity as a junior.
11. Mac Riniker, 6-5, F/G, Steamboat Springs, 2019, 18.6 ppg
If there’s a team out there looking for a stat sheet stuffer, Riniker certainly fits the bill. On top of his nearly 19 points per game, the Steamboat Springs senior averages 10.0 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 3.3 steals and 1.8 bloack a night while keeping the pressure on opposing defenses with his combination of length, ball handling, court vision and driving ability.
12. Donta Dawson, 6-4, SF/PF, Harrison, 2021, 18.4 ppg
The first sophomore to crack this list, Dawson is brining 18.4 points a game to the table this season. He’s already looking great in the paint while adding7.1 rebounds and 2.4 blocks a night, and Dawson project to be a future star if he keeps improving at his current rate.
13. Joel Scott (previously No. 8, see Part II)
14. James Felton, 6-7, W, Lincoln, 2019, 18.1 ppg
Contributing to his team’s nightly effort in a number of ways including seven rebounds a game, Felton is scoring nearly four points more each game than he did as a junior. Felton has added size and strength to fill out his 6-foot-7 frame and it has shown through the early portion of 2018-19.
15. Ilja Bubukin (previously No. 5, see Part I)
