Program Awards: Louisville Prospects
With the 2018 AAU season in the rear view mirror, we are going to dive into programs across the state looking at their teams in a variety of categories in our Program Awards! Today we examine Louisville Prospects!
Program MVP
Jake Whitlock, Spencer County
The 15u Prospects got better and better as the year went along and Whitlock’s steady play at the point guard spot was a large reason why the team improved. The 15u season ended with a nip and tuck game against the Louisville Magic where Whitlock went head to head with their guards and was impressive running the team.
Top 2019 Prospect
N/A – The Prospects only had 2020 and 2021 teams this season
Top 2020/2021 Prospect
Zak Perdew, Bullitt East
Perdew is a strong point guard who just keeps getting better every time out. With a relatively wide open 6th region this season, Perdew is going to have plenty of chances to show he can compete against the best floor generals in Louisville and surrounding areas all season long.
Sleeper
Spencer Baird, Casey County
Spencer started varsity at Lincoln County as a freshman for several games before abruptly transferring to Casey County near the end of the season. Baird is a good perimeter scorer who can also bully his way to the rim. He and Whitlock combined to score a lot of points this AAU season.
Biggest Stock Riser
Darik Holman, Henry Clay
Darik made the switch to the 15u Prospects after playing 16u with Kentucky Pressure in the spring. Holman has some good length for the guard position but will need to continue to improve his shooting and ball handling if he’s going to make an impact in the 11th region this season and beyond. Darik has the potential to be a very good defender if he buys into that role this season.
