All Windex Team: Kentucky’s Top Rebounders
One of the most under appreciated statistics in high school basketball is rebounding. Coaches will always say that rebounding is about who wants it more. Many great rebounders have made college and even NBA careers out of being great rebounders. Here’s a look at some of the best rebounders in the state.
Seth Stockton, Clinton County – The state’s leading rebounder as a Junior last year, Stockton returns for one more year at Clinton County. Clinton plays fast with a lot of pace which equals a lot of opportunities for rebounds for the Senior.
Dontaie Allen, Pendleton County – Allen did everything for Pendleton last season and will likely need to do even more for the Wildcats this season after graduating 9 seniors last year. Dontaie is one of the best around at picking a rebound and pushing the break.
Trey James, Sheldon Clark – Trey had a ton of triple doubles last season and averaged nearly 11 rebounds per game as a freshman. Trey is a head taller than everyone else in the region and should be among the best rebounders in the state this season.
Michael Moreno, Scott County – Moreno would probably average even more rebounds per game if he weren’t on one of the best teams in the state. A lot of games last season he only played about 3 quarters for the Cardinals and still averaged over 10 per game.
Dayvion McKnight, Collins – Yes he’s a point guard but McKnight averaged 8 rebounds per game as a sophomore and had plenty of double doubles in the AAU season. Dayvion’s motor doesn’t stop running and he should be the state’s leading rebounder amongst point guards this season.
Nick Keeton, Paintsville – Another junior, Keeton was a point per game away from averaging a double double as a sophomore. Coach Landon Slone is very high on Keeton and his potential as he embarks on his Junior season and Nick should be on the list of Kentucky’s top rebounders again this season.
Alex Matthews, John Hardin – As a sophomore, Alex averaged a double double at John Hardin and should do that again as a Junior. Matthews has a nose for the ball and pulls down rebounds with two hands. Look for him to be one of the top rebounders in the state this season.
Jermon Boyd, Shawnee – Boyd is listed as a PG, SG, SF, PF and C on the Shawnee roster on KHSAA and he rebounds like a guy with magnets for hands. He finds a way to pull down over 10 rebounds per game and should be at that number or higher this season.
Isaiah Cozart, Madison Central – Madison Central has to replace several starters this season but Isaiah will be a constant in his final season for the Indians. Another two handed rebounder, Cozart should be in the double figures in rebounds and average a double-double while swatting several shots per game.
John Tillman, Frankfort – Tillman was in the top 20 rebounders in the state as a Junior and should be on that list again as a Senior. New Frankfort coach Chris O’Bryan moves over from East Jessamine and will rely on Tillman to play a major role in any success for the Panthers.
