Recruiting Update: Isaac Lange (2019 Thurston HS/Team Fly Williams)
Isaac Lange had a goal with AAU basketball. The athletic 6-foot-1 guard from Thurston High School definitely wanted to win games and he was able to help Team Fly Williams do that. But the rising senior was also hoping to amp up his college recruitment. So while Lange is still waiting for his first scholarship offer, he has generated some interest going into this fall.
We caught up with Lange at Portland State Elite Camp and he reflected back on the month of July. “Team Fly was a fun experience,” Lange said. “We didn’t really end it on what we wanted to, but it was against a really top EYBL team and we played our butt off and I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I think I did good as an individual. I caught the eye of a lot of coaches and they seemed really interested in my athleticism. I really thought I brought what I had to the table.”
Some of the college programs who kept tabs on Lange include in-state schools Oregon State, Portland, and Portland State, but he’s also received interest from out-of-state schools such as Jacksonville State, Alaska-Anchorage, Redlands, and Pacific Lutheran. Lange also indicated that practically every NWAC school has shown interest as well. He noted that he doesn’t have any offers and is listening to to everyone. “I’m open to anything right now,” Lange said.
An outstanding athlete, Lange gets up and down the floor as good as anybody around and his leaping ability easily ranks among the best – if not the best – in the state. From PSU Elite camp, he noted he learned a lot from the Viking coaches and players, and is hoping to apply that to his workouts before the season starts. “I’m going to work on my game in general,” Lange said. “We just got a shooting machine at our school, so that will be put to good use.”
Lange currently ranks as the #4 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2019 rankings.
