Colorado Player of the Week Poll (Dec. 21)
It was another week of big performances, with players shining both in state and out. Cast your vote for best player in Colorado this week.
Jervae Robinson
The 6-foot-2 Overland senior point guard was dynamic in Las Vegas, drawing rave reviews for his play at the Tarkanian Classic. Robinson, who averaged 18.5 points over four games against top-flight competition, led the Trailblazers to the Platinum Division title while also taking home the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player honors.
Tyler Converse
Legacy’s 6-foot-2 senior guard averaged 22 points per game to help the Lightning go 2-1 last week, its only loss a 61-59 setback to Broomfield in the title game of the Prairie View Tournament. Converse (what a great name for a hooper) had his 3-point stroke going, knocking in 16-of-31 shots from downtown during the week.
Cordell Gillingham
The Spartans’ 6-2 senior guard averaged 19.7 points per game to help Greeley West go a perfect 3-0 during the week. He also had a three rebounds, three assists and four big steals on Saturday in the Spartans’ big win over top-ranked Wyoming Central.
Sam Masten
In leading red-hot Rock Canyon to the title game of the Select Division at the Tarkanian Classic, the 6-foot-2 sophomore guard was named to the all-tournament team. Master averaged better than 17 points per game during the tournament.
Geoff Kelly
Regis Jesuit’s powerful 6-foot-6 senior forward tallied 26 points, seven rebounds, three assists and four steals to help the Raiders stay perfect with a big 66-58 victory over surging George Washington.
Matteo Busnardo
The 6-foot-1 junior sharpshooter averaged 19 points over three straight victories in three days to help Mullen win its home tournament for the third straight season. Busnardo’s top game came in the opener against Harrison on Thursday, when he scored 30 points and hit 5-of-9 shots from 3-point range.
Braxton Bertolette
The 6-foot-2 Fossil Ridge junior keeps setting the bar higher. In a victory over Western in a consolation title game at the Tarkanian Classic, Bertolette set event records with 48 points that all came by way of his 16 3-pointers, also an event best. The 16 3-pointers made in a game were also a CHSAA record, and both marks were school records.
