We all know who fills up the box score each time out. The leading scorers, the names that jump off the stat sheet. But winning basketball is built on more than scoring. It's built on the guys who do the dirty work, set the tone, and keep the team steady when things get chaotic. The engines for their team. The pairs that impact winning in ways numbers can't explain. Here are the top glue guy duos in the 6A/5A/4A Granite Peaks Conference.

Use code dev30 for 30% off and secure access as we get closer to the post/off-season, so you don't miss any of our scouting.

Horizon

If you look at the Horizon team, we knew they would have a pretty good season, but now they're going above and beyond. They have arguably the best front-court duo in the state with two bigs who dominate, but they needed stellar guard play to match that. Enter Jeramiah. Jeramiah has answered the call for Horizon. He's been a standout for a few seasons, but now it looks comfortable for him. He's impacting the game from all levels. He's putting up an impressive 12.1 points and 3.3 rebounds a game, but what really has stood out is his ability to keep everyone involved. He's averaging 5.2 assists a game and keeping everyone happy. He's flirted with a double-double in the past few games with 9 assists, and he's taking care the basketball too. His assist-to-turnover ratio is what really stands out for me as he's the leader on the court despite not being the team's best player. Very good year for the glue guy of the conference.

[player_tooltip player_id='2382298' first='Carter' last=''] is an under-the-radar PG who has worked his way up and, now in his Senior year, is starting to see an increase in minutes. He's earned everything that he's got as of late, and his work ethic is pretty contagious. He's a do-it-all guard who you can throw on opposing guards to slow them down, he's a selfless player who moves his feet and defends without fouling and he's not afraid to put his body on the line. He's also improved as a scorer and is a player who is finding ways to put the ball in the basket. I like his willingness to do what is asked of him on any given night as every team needs a dawg. He's a dawg, and we're excited to give him a bit of attention.

Frederick

Lechuga is a prospect who entered high school as a sharp shooter who you had to know where he was the moment that he got on the court to now in his senior year as a do-it-all lead guard and team's facilitator who is confident with the ball in his hands, reads defenses and has to be game-planned for. The game has slowed down for him, and he's been delivering. He's put up double figures in all but two games this year, he's had some monster assist games as different matchups he's adjusted to , and he still shoots a mean 3-ball. He's more complete, and the team rides his momentum. He gets going in a hurry, impacts the game in various ways, and is a player who deserves more attention as Frederick has surprised. He's the barometer for the team, and they go as he goes.

Dorsey has the size at 6'3 and has filled in admirably as a complementary piece who is very productive. He's earned our respect in the past two seasons, and now the 6'3 junior is in a groove since he's started playing in the new year. Dorsey has shaken off the rust and is up to 10.4 points a game. He's battling on the boards, spacing the floor with his shooting, and making the right reads. He's also very aggressive right now and that's causing the defenses to have to adjust to his playstyle as well as getting him to the FT line. Frederick has looked like a more balanced team with him in the mix and he's a glue guy who could help them go on a run.

Holy Family

Holy Family is about culture and playing the right way, and they're having another successful season where they have aspirations of winning it all. They're balanced, and that's what separates them. Grable is a 6'4 forward who has been part of this run for the past few years and wants to finish off his senior season with a bang. He's gotten more minutes this season and made the most of them. He's been a difference maker inside who dominates the post and controls the middle. He's looking comfortable down there right now as a finisher and putting together some of his best games. He's looking aggressive as a scorer as he's putting up 8.1 points a game and cleaning the glass for second-chance opportunities. He boxes out, soars for the boards, sets hard screens, and moves. Grable has an excellent motor and has been the team's X-factor.

Ward made quite the jump from sophomore to junior season and this 6'2 athlete has been a big reason why Holy Family looks like a dark horse contender. Ward is in the middle if his best stretch of his high school career. He looks confident with the ball in his hands, he's making quick and decisive decisions, shooting lights out, and finishing right now. Teams are keying in on him, and that is not slowing him down. He's also impacting the game in different ways. He's rebounding and using his length, he's keeping the ball moving with cuts and attacking mismatches. He's a glue guy who at times looks like the team's go-to guy. That's how you fit in while standing out!
