The Class of 2028 in Oklahoma is off to a strong start. There's a headliner group with multiple players who all have a strong case to be the best prospect in the state. Frankly it's more of a tier than a definitive one through five. (But people don't click on TIERS, they click on RANKINGS), And now there's a sixth player who's breakout sophomore campaign is starting to place him in the same neighborhood as the top 5.

An injury derailed the start to Coleman's sophomore campaign, but he's back and ready for a State Tournament push in Class 2A. The long term projection on Coleman remains unique among recent Oklahoma prospects, because he has legit perimeter movement and skills at his height. His ability as a passer really should not be overlooked. Drops transition dimes, whips cross court passes with velocity and accuracy. Combined with how he moves as a driver and on pull jumpers, it means there's a lot to be excited about how the OCA standout will continue to develop. He plays hard, but there are little moments where he could unlock another level. For example in a game watched last week, he dropped one of those transition passes to his teammates. If he followed his pass, he could've been there for a putback dunk. Finding and doing those little killer instinct moments to prove he's the man will help set him up with the right mindset to compete in the new era of high level college basketball.

If picking any Oklahoma sophomore to go win a high school or AAU game right now, the clear pick would be "Bubba D". He's a rare competitor in this current age of basketball. Often rising to the occasion in the biggest moments and playing with an edge that is refreshing to watch. The edge is most apparent on the defensive end when he turns turnovers into automatic points for himself or teammates. He has explosive and acrobatic finishes around the rim, a nasty mid-range pull game and showtime passing to his teammates. Those traits make Douglas a blast to watch, especially when combined with his competitive nature. His three point shooting can be streaky, but he does appear to be improving at it this season. For his long term potential, he'll need to become more of a traditional half court point guard. Or he could possibly appeal to the right college system that prioritizes tempo and flexibility.

A monster athlete, who is putting up monster numbers and highlights. Washington's god given gifts allow him to tear down the rim with some of the nastiest dunks and finishes seen in the last decade in Oklahoma. He makes it look easy as he plays with power to match his leaping ability. Also can heat up quickly from deep, which keeps the driving lanes open. With his special athleticism, he'll have his pick of high level collegiate opportunities in basketball and football.

As a freshman, McDaniel was about a pure shooter as possible. Deep range from three. Textbook off the ball movement, and then smoothly squaring up from catch and shoot situations. But like any good player, he has not rested on his laurels. He's becoming a mid-range monster. From simply attacking close outs, to even sizing up defenders and hitting tough fadeways. McDaniel simply has rare shooting touch and shooting is prioritized by college coaches. Giving him a super power that will get his foot in the door at the next level.

Murry with an offer from Missouri passes the eye test as a future high major prospect. Good size, good athleticism as he's becoming twitchier and more explosive. Has hit the the personal production at times this year that match his high potential. But playing on a balanced team and deep team has somewhat muted his numbers. He still has put up impressive moments, especially with his versatile finishing package around the rim. The Panther is so tough to stop off the bounce because of the improving twitchiness, along with the hang time and creative finishing to always get good looks off. Love his potential as a defender too and the moments of playmaking too. The stretch run for a potential Gold Ball and his 16U summer with MoKan will give him ample opportunities to elevate his play in huge moments.

Newton was promising as a freshman and during 15U AAU play, but has reached new heights this season. Has college ready range and is a true weapon from the beyond arc. Games where he hits 5 or more three pointers are becoming common. Especially because once one look goes in, odds are a few more are going to quickly follow. Is smooth and confident when getting into his spots off the dribble. Still growing and getting a little more athletic, indicating that there is strong potential for him to be an outstanding all around scorer as an upperclassman.
