Washington has emerged as one of the top scoring wings on the circuit, averaging 19.5 points per game. He plays with confidence, scores effectively in transition, and has shown the ability to create offense in both structured and open-floor situations. His size and scoring instincts consistently create matchup problems.

Another weekend, another explosive performance for the special athlete from McAlester. Washington went for 40 points on Saturday, helping his loaded AB Elite team to a 6-0 mark in E16 play. The Oklahoman just might be the best athlete nationally in the Class of 2028. As how many other 6 foot 2 guards are pulling off two footed east bay dunks IN GAME?

Last summer at the NikeE15 level, the explosive guard was nearly unstoppable. One weekend of NikeE16 and it’s same story, with more offers this time around. With Oklahoma, UNLV, Memphis and Kansas expressing their interest in the freak athlete. He’s still often too fast and explosive with the ball in his hands. Feasted in transition, always a lob threat and hunted for putback dunks. Truly an one of one athlete. In the one full game watched his three point shot wasn’t dialed in. But he still locked confident and more concise in his motions when hitting in the mid-range. Did explode for 33 points in another game.
The biggest question when it comes to the next level has been football or basketball for Washington? With the national offers starting to roll in for the McAlester Buffalo, it’s looking like the answer will be hoops.

A monster athlete, who is putting up monster numbers and highlights. Washington’s god given gifts allow him to tear down the rim with some of the nastiest dunks and finishes seen in the last decade in Oklahoma. He makes it look easy as he plays with power to match his leaping ability. Also can heat up quickly from deep, which keeps the driving lanes open. With his special athleticism, he’ll have his pick of high level collegiate opportunities in basketball and football.

Poured in 31 points in just about every way while leading McAlester to a near upset in Tulsa. Caught fire from deep, hitting off the bounce and as a spot up threat. Washington’s insane speed and bounce were on display with one transition slam, where he nearly hit his head on the backboard after he dunked it. Had another grown man finish through contact, where he hung in the air and scored through a taller, older foe. Football-basketball standout who is a SPECIAL athlete, with a motor to match. One of the best scorers in the state regardless of grade.

Special athlete, with a special motor. His combination of quickness, strength, pride and of course other worldly hops, helped him lead his LeGYNds 15U squad to a Peach Jam birth. Had two mega scoring games in crucial wins. One came with coaches from Nebraska (already offered) and Creighton courtside. That game in particular, he was dialed in as a shooter from three. Washington appears to be making the next step as a perimeter shooter. Which will make him one of the best scorers in Oklahoma, regardless of class.

In the last decade or so, there’s only been one other 6 footish Oklahoma guard who was as explosive vertically and as fast as Washington was at this stage in high school. That guard is currently playing professionally. For the Cincinnati Bengals. Dax Hill was an insane lob threat and and freak of nature playing 15U AAU, before choosing to focus on football. Washington might be even more athletic, which is a scary thought. He’s also a much more well rounded basketball player than Hill was at this stage.
Still, the same gifts that make him an one of a kind basketball player, will also likely translate onto the football field. In fact, there’s already examples from spring ball of Washington being too “fast” in football, and making DBs look like they’re running in sand. In Oklahoma, when players have football opportunities, those opportunities tend to win out over basketball. Washington is still a year or two from having to decide which sport, and he’s a certified hooper. So while the decision could be tough, the journey in both will be filled with highlights.

There’s good odds that Washington could earn scholarship opportunities in three sports; football, basketball and track and field. He’s a special athlete, the best in the 2028 Class, and a strong argument to be the best in any current class in Oklahoma. He’s relentless energy when it comes to pressuring on defense and attacking the rim on offense. Seemingly has limitless bounce, with a highlight reel full of acrobatic layups and explosive dunks. Had games where he proved to be a streaky shooter, capable of catching fire from three. Insane upside and desire from Washington. With his time on the Nike circuit being crucial as he refines his basketball skill and feel to match his athletic ability.

The best pure athlete in the current freshman class, and one of the best in Oklahoma regardless of class. Washington was electric and dynamic, with jaw dropping dunks in transition. Breath taking acrobatic finishes on drives in traffic. Then the ability to be a microwave when he heated up from deep. The ceiling is insane for Washington because his combination of explosiveness and hangtime in the air is extremely rare. With his physical traits, he’ll always be a target of college coaches and among the best prospects in the class. It’s now about refining his on the ball skills and decisions making to better prepare for the next level. Which he will get the opportunity and strong tests to do just that against national competition this summer.

Seemingly every week there’s a new highlight video of Washington with either a ridiculous move on a breakaway dunk or dunking on the opposition in traffic. The freshman already has a strong case as the best athlete in Oklahoma. Which is a scary thought, as the McAlester Buffalo is more than just a high flyer. He’s an explosive off dribble scorer. He is a bit streaky as a shooter, but when locked in the threes happen in a hurry. Great combination of raw upside with his athleticism and instant production.
