is the top-ranked player in the state and is nationally recognized as a top recruit. His statistics speak for themselves, with back-to-back seasons averaging over 20 PPG, eclipsing 1,000 points midway through his sophomore season. He led the Ruston Bearcats in scoring and assists while spearheading a run to the State Championship. Physically, he is a gifted athlete, but skill-wise, he is elite in every measurable statistic: shooting, rebounding, defending, and assisting. You name it, and he is ahead of the pack with high percentages to boot. He is built like a middle linebacker with elite athleticism. His ability to dunk through contact is what separates him from others in his class, and today he is still only 15 years old. At 6’3″ and 180 pounds, he is a physical intimidator who is unstoppable offensively. The #1 spot is firm with Ford as we head into the Live Period.

Ford is the first of Basketball Royalty. He is the grandson of Basketball Legend Karl Malone. The story line sounds great, but the skill is what is most impressive. After watching Ford as a Freshman, I posted that he would be a 5 Star. Six months later, he received a four star ranking. Ford is an elite scorer and his constant pressure on the defense makes Ruston tough to figure out.
Ford can shoot the from the mid range out to the three point line with equal efficiency, and does not have to be in catch and shoot situations. He can create for himself and his understanding of creating space is special, considering he is 15 years old. His greatest ability is his basketball IQ. He makes the game easier for those around him, and as a PG, he will be one of the most recruited players in the nation. The sniper is in Ruston, and he came to win.

After a year at Ouachita, Ford made the jump to Ruston and will solidify an already loaded roster that just fell short of a top 28 bid a year ago. The bulky guard has a college ready body and college ready game. He plays at his own pace and can score from anywhere on the floor. He is a sticky defender with high IQ and uncanny instincts. Being just a sophomore Ford is sure to top this list in years to come. Player Comparison. Jrue Holiday. Grissom Pick #4.

Ford is one of the top players in the nation. His skills are elite. His mentality is elite, and his performance was also elite. He is a young player with more upside than can be estimated. At 15, he is a pure shooter and can get his shot wherever he wants on the court. His poise with the ball makes him only controllable with a double team. Ford uses the shoulder bump to bully players all over the court and you can only hope he misses a shot. Calling him a sniper would be right in line with his skill as one of a few players with his ability to shoot the ball. Recent offers from LSU and NC State are evidence of his acknowledged potential. His new home in Ruston could be the place where he builds his legacy.

Darren Ford was a fluid playmaker who shifted gears effortlessly in traffic, consistently operating at his own controlled pace. His low, balanced dribble posture allowed him to turn the corner on defenders consistently, either creating downhill driving angles or drawing contact to earn trips to the line. Off the ball, he was just as dangerous, popping out off pindowns to nail catch-and-shoot three-pointers with rhythm. Ford’s leaning pull-up jumper from the left side was deadly, knocking down contested mid-range shots with touch and body control, a skill that clearly set him apart from his peers.

Darren Ford was a fearless shooter, confidently knocking down contested jumpers without hesitation. His ability to drill three-pointers from both standstill positions and while on the move highlighted his elite shot-making ability. What set him apart from other shooters in his class was his knack for sinking tough, tightly-guarded shots. Ford’s athleticism was also on full display as he showed a tendency to elevate above the rim, effortlessly throwing down two-handed dunks in transition.

has cemented himself as the most difficult player to stop on this Ouachita squad. An elite three-level scorer, he can make plays from anywhere on the court. Whether it’s knocking down deep three-pointers, pulling up for mid-range shots, or attacking the rim, Ford can do it all. His first step is explosive, often taking him straight into the defense, and as soon as he senses any space, he’s quick to elevate for his shot. Ford: Louisiana’s Rising Star with an Elite All-Around Game
We may call him the “baby of the bunch,” but Ford’s game is anything but immature. The freshman phenom dropped 23 points in his latest outing, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg for this budding Louisiana star. In his first year, Ford is already averaging 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in 5A — widely considered the toughest division in the state.
What makes Ford special is his complete game. As a freshman, he’s already an elite three-point shooter, with an uncanny ability to knock down shots off the dribble, even when tightly defended. He’s fearless on the court, able to finish through contact thanks to his already muscular frame. And if that weren’t enough, Ford is also a deadly mid-range shooter, showcasing his versatility as a scorer.
With all these tools already in his arsenal, it’s clear that Ford is destined for greatness. He recently picked up his third offer from Oklahoma State, and it’s only a matter of time before more programs start to take notice. Just remember the name — Ford is a name you’ll be hearing for years to come.

is quickly becoming a name to watch across the state, leaving people asking, “Who is this kid, and where did he come from?” He made a splash at the event, starting with an impressive 5 three-pointers in the first half of his opening game against a loaded Central squad. Ford finished with 25 points in that contest, then followed up with a solid 14-point performance in a game where he didn’t even need to rely on his scoring to make an impact. At just 14 years old, he recently received his third scholarship offer from Oklahoma State, a testament to his growing reputation. Standing out with his size, skill, basketball IQ, and relentless motor, Ford has all the tools to become a top-ranked national player. He’s already one of the best three-point shooters in the state, knocking down shots effortlessly off the dribble, even with defenders in his face. With his performances so far, the expectations for Ford are rising fast, and he’s showing every sign that he’s ready to meet them head-on.
