Zumberge has big time potential and does a lot of the things you want to see a scholarship-level big-man do. The 6-foot-8 forward is powerful in the upper body, but he knows when and how to use his strength. Defensively, he does an excellent job walling up with his long arms and is super disciplined when it comes to not fouling out of control drivers and instead forcing them to finish over his length. Offensively, he has a budding skillset that I could totally see improving with time—he can effectively drive closeouts already and has a nice-looking release. Zumberge has scholarship potential and could reach that level if he continues to improve his hands and general offensive bag.

A new addition to the Nova Village program for July, Zumberge did a nice job off the bench as he scored off a quick seal with his left hand, finished a layup off a BLOB set and overall looked involved in the offense. Zumberge’s overall skill level allowed Nova Village to run some unique actions as he set screens beyond the 3-point line and has the ability to space the floor or make a passing decision on the perimeter. One of the more talented offensive bigs in central Ohio, Zumberge can do a variety of things both with and without the basketball on that end of the court. I’m glad I got to see Zumberge is a more extended role at the grassroots level as he wasn’t receiving a ton of minutes in the spring.

Zumberge is another player who improved their stock at the state tournament, helping Columbus Academy make the Division V state title. A skilled big man, Zumberge can stretch the floor and use his size to score through smaller opponents. That combination will be valuable for All Ohio Red , as they’ll have the size up and down their roster to compete with other 16 U EYBL programs. Having a stretch forward can be a big boost in the EYBL, being able to rebound and defend the paint without sacrificing floor spacing on the offensive end. Expect Zumberge to become a more household name with college coaches this summer.

Zumberge is a big kid who passes the eye test easily. He is a big player who moves his feet very well. Against Mansfield Senior, a guard-heavy team, he had multiple situations when he needed to guard a quicker guard on the perimeter, and he did a great job. He used his length to recover and have multiple blocks. He was good on the rebounds, and I think he would be even better against a team that is not so guard-heavy. I love his potential because of his coordination and size.
