Trent Smalling Trent Smalling Trent Smalling 6'4" | SG Woodside | 2027 State VA is an explosive shooting guard playing for Team Loaded Gold . He can space the floor as well as attack off the dribble. He has great positional size and a high IQ. His length is also disruptive on defense, and he plays hard on that end of the floor.

Trenton Smalling continues trending upward and had another strong showing at CBG Championships.

Athletic wings that can score and defend are always valuable, and Smalling checks a lot of boxes. He played with energy on both ends of the floor and showed his ability to impact games in multiple ways.

His explosiveness immediately stands out, especially in transition and attacking the basket. He consistently made athletic plays around the rim and created extra possessions through effort. Defensively, he was active and disruptive while using his length and quickness to pressure opposing guards.

Smalling’s stock has continued climbing this spring, and performances like this are a reminder why.

Few players may have improved their stock more during the live period than Trenton Smalling.

Competing at the 3SSB Gold Session in Round Rock, Texas, Smalling played a major role in helping Team Loaded Gold finish the weekend 4-0 and secure spots in both the Gold Finals and 3SSB Finals. Against high-level competition, he consistently delivered.

Smalling averaged nearly 17 points, five rebounds, and 3.5 steals per game while bringing energy and explosiveness every time he stepped on the floor. His athletic ability immediately jumps out, but what made his weekend impressive was how much more there was to his game than highlight plays.

He thrives in transition and is one of the better open-floor athletes in Virginia. Once he gets downhill, defenders are often put in difficult situations because of his speed, body control, and ability to finish above the rim. He also showed the ability to score from multiple areas on the floor, proving he isn’t simply relying on athleticism.

Defensively, his activity level created problems throughout the weekend. His length and quickness allowed him to jump passing lanes and create extra possessions.

Smalling entered the event with plenty of upside, but he left Round Rock looking like one of the more intriguing prospects in the state’s 2027 class.

One of the biggest stock-risers of the weekend was 2027 guard Trenton Smalling. The athletic combo guard averaged 14 points and 5 rebounds per game while making a major impact on both sides of the floor. Smalling’s blend of explosiveness, scoring ability, and defensive activity consistently stood out throughout the live period.

At 6-foot-4, Smalling creates matchup problems with his size and athleticism in the backcourt. He scored efficiently from multiple levels, knocking down perimeter shots while also attacking downhill and finishing through contact at the rim. His confidence offensively continues to grow each weekend, and he’s become a reliable scoring option whenever Team Loaded needs a basket.

Defensively, Smalling embraced tough assignments and used his length and instincts to disrupt opposing guards. His energy, athleticism, and ability to impact winning played a huge role in the team’s success in Texas.

After his strong showing, Smalling earned All-Tournament First Team honors and continued to prove he’s one of the top rising guards in Virginia’s 2027 class.

If there is one player whose name keeps coming up every weekend this spring, it is Trenton Smalling. Smalling has been phenomenal for Team Loaded Gold 17U this summer and has quickly become one of the biggest stock risers in Virginia.

The athletic guard has been leading Team Loaded Gold in scoring while producing at an extremely efficient level. Through the spring, he is averaging over 17.5 points per game while shooting above 60% from the field. Defensively, he has been equally impressive, averaging over four steals per game and constantly creating havoc with his activity and intensity.

Smalling was already a key contributor for Woodside last season, but his development over the last several months has been significant. He looks more confident, more assertive offensively, and continues to impact winning in multiple ways.

When you combine his production with the pieces around him, it becomes easy to understand why Woodside enters next season with massive expectations. This is a team loaded with toughness, athleticism, shot-making, and defensive intensity. Every time they step on the floor, they bring a different level of energy and competitiveness.

The Wolverines are going to be very difficult to beat next season.

It may not have been his loudest scoring performance, but Smalling’s impact was undeniable. He finished with 12 points and 4 rebounds while taking on one of the toughest defensive assignments on the floor. Alongside Schrinel, he helped neutralize Makai Ragland, showing physicality, discipline, and effort on every possession. His presence continues to go well beyond the box score.

Smalling has been one of the most productive guards in the area all spring, and it’s no coincidence Team Loaded Gold sits at 12–0. He’s a true three-level scorer who can beat defenders off the bounce, knock down perimeter shots, and finish above the rim with authority. What separates him, though, is his defensive presence. Smalling is constantly disrupting passing lanes, turning defense into offense, and impacting the game without needing the ball. His ability to generate steals and deflections makes him a nightmare matchup and a clear next-level piece.

A strong wing with positional size, Smalling is playing this spring with Team Loaded Gold . He moves well without the ball, finds ways to impact the game within the flow of the offense, and consistently produces at the offensive end. He is reliable shot maker and can attack and finish above the rim. Smalling fills the stat sheet with his ability to rebound and defend multiple positions, making him a valuable two-way presence on the floor.

Trenton Smalling delivered one of the most complete performances of the showcase. This occurred in  Team Loaded Gold ‘s second game. He finished with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 6 steals in a dominant win.

His efficiency jumped off the page. He went 9-of-11 from the field and 3-of-4 from three. This highlights his ability to take smart shots and capitalize on opportunities. Smalling plays within the flow of the offense but doesn’t hesitate to take over when needed.

Defensively, he was just as impactful. His activity level, anticipation, and instincts led to multiple steals and transition opportunities. Offensively, he excels at getting downhill, attacking gaps, and finishing through contact.

Smalling is the definition of a low-maintenance player. He has a high impact on the game. He does all the little things while still producing at a high level.

Smalling continues to prove he’s one of the top prospects in Virginia. He was highly productive all weekend. He averaged over 15 points and 8 rebounds per game. He impacted both ends at a high level. He excels above the rim in transition. He shoots it confidently from deep. He uses his length and athleticism to disrupt defensively. With a college-ready frame and consistent motor, Smalling looks the part of a scholarship-level guard. One of his key performances was vs. Illinois Flight 3SSB Gold with 17 Points (7-13 FG), 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
