Wisconsin Expo: Team 6 Evaluations

Fresh of receiving his first NCAA Division I scholarship offer -- from Western Michigan earlier this month -- Robbins flashed oodles of potential at The Expo. He is a small forward who can put the ball on the floor and attack the rim while also flashing a smooth shot from outside the arc. Robbins is quick off his feet and can easily finish above the rim, tear rebounds off the glass and lead a fast break if needed. He will need to add some weight and physical strength for the college game, but Western Michigan coaches definitely got the jump on one of the state's better juniors.     Some players just have a natural feel for the game and make the right play almost every time down the court. Badwan is one of those players. At a sturdy 6-foot-3, Badwan can set screens on the perimeter, toss in three-point shots with ease, and muscle his way to the basket to score or get fouled. He has put up impressive numbers at Salam School, averaging 28.7 points and 8.6 rebounds a year ago. But he is much more than just a small-school standout. He proved at The Expo he can play with the better players in Wisconsin and more than hold his own.     A small, but extremely quick and smart point guard who moves like a gazelle with the ball in his hands. Corbin weaves his way in and around defenders with ease, and he does an outstanding job of keeping his head up and looking for cutting teammates. Passing is the best part of his game, but he's also a capable shooter. Defensively, Corbin is quick in the half court and fast to rush back and contest an opponent's fast break opportunity. He is a very competitive player on every possesion and on both ends of the floor.     Strong and crafty lead guard who plays with physicality and an edge. Schultz doesn't back down from any opponent and likes to use his strength and quick hands to get deflections and steals. Offensively, Schultz gets to the hoop and can also bang three-point shots. He was a solid contributor for a very solid Team 6 squad, showing stellar leadership skills with his on-floor communication. Schultz figures to be one of the premier backcourt performers in the Packerland Conference over the next two seasons.     We will be the first to admit we have Phillips ranked too low in the 2027 class. It's hard to get a great read on every player in the state, but there is no question Phillips ranks among the better juniors in Wisconsin. His smooth game includes the ability to score on all three levels, almost with ease. He drilled four triples and also scored at the rim for Team 6 in its outing against Team 7. He is a key member of a Nicolet squad that is looking to make some big noise this winter, both in the North Shore Conference and on the WIAA Division 2 state level. Look for Phillips to have a breakout season for the Knights in 2025-26.     Cook is a player you need to watch more than once to gain an appreciation for everything he does on the court. He will have games where his outstanding shooting shines brightest as he's one of the best long-distance snipers in the state, regardless of class. But he's far more than a just shooter. He plays with aggressiveness and quickness on defense, contesting passing lanes and staying in front of his opponent. Offensively, he's ready to shoot on almost every catch, but he can also use a ball fake to get around his defender and either score or drop off a pass to a frontline teammate. The son of New Berlin West coach Scott Cook, [player_tooltip player_id='2371703' first='Jayce' last='Cook'] is a solid all-around player, a guy you want on your side because of his impressive shot making skill, but also because of his toughness and smarts.     Give Brady a ton of credit. Post players don't always get a ton of touches in a showcase event like The Expo. More often than not, the ball is up before bigs even get settled in the post. But Brady didn't complain and ran the floor at a whole new level, thanks to the shedding of some weight and continued hard work on his body. At 6-foot-10, Brady can be unstoppable once he gets the ball on the blocks. His size and skill are just very difficult to contain. And he has learned to utilize his improved footwork to score with different moves near the basket. Another stellar class of 2027 prospect in the state, Brady is a player scholarship coaches at the collegiate level will be watching closely over the next 12 months.     Shifty point guard who constantly probes a defense, looking for an opportunity to get to the basket. Gosling has grown a few inches over the last year or so and figures to be in the mix in the backcourt for Madison East this winter. His lateral movement is solid, which should allow him to become a very good defender on the perimeter.
