Class 4A: Top 10 Returning Steals

1.) 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2204081' first='Charlie' last='King'] (Roosevelt) -- 49 steals   King has found himself on a number of these top 10 lists, a testament to the strength of his all-around game. An athletic, long wing, he does a nice job utilizing his length and IQ to turn defense into offense routinely.   2.) 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2309944' first='Josiah' last='Harrington'] (North Scott) -- 46   Arguably the best player in the state, Harrington, an Iowa State commit, is another player who uses his great size to impact the game on the defensive end, both as a perimeter defender and a rim protector. At 6-6/6-7 and with his IQ, he knows where to position himself and allow his length to do part of the work.   3.) 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1765505' first='Parker' last='Berns'] (Cedar Falls) -- 46*   A quick guard with great hands and lateral movement, Berns was a standout for Waterloo West for the last three years but has transferred to play his senior year at Cedar Falls, where he'll give the Tigers a dynamic two-way lead guard. He averaged 16.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 2.0 steals per game last season for the Wahawks.   4.) 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2398477' first='Traeshon' last='Fields'] (Cedar Rapids Washington) -- 44   Fields had an extremely productive freshman year for the Warriors, averaging 17.6 points, 1.7 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. A cat-quick, diminutive guard, he has great instincts on both ends of the floor and uses his speed to his advantage.   5.) 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1978104' first='Easton' last='Klement'] (Council Bluffs Lincoln) -- 42   Klement is a strong, quick guard who has a knack for jumping passing lanes and sparking the Lynx offensive attack. On the offensive end, he's a pass-first guard who dished out nearly as many assists per game (4.4) as points (4.8).   6.) 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1736401' first='Emmanuel' last='Tete'] (Southeast Polk) -- 42   Tete does a great job moving his feet and making opposing ball-handlers work hard against him on the defensive end of the floor. He uses his lateral quickness to make life difficult to force a number of turnovers, and then he's a real threat in the open court with his speed end-to-end with the ball in his hands.   7.) 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2419793' first='Mack' last='Heitland'] (Waukee Northwest) -- 41   A tough, athletic guard with a high IQ and great feel for the game on both ends of the floor, Heitland can do a little bit of everything for the Wolves. His future is probably on the gridiron as he's one of the state's top quarterbacks, but he's also a really skilled 3-and-D wing, shooting 48.6% from 3-point range as a sophomore.   8.) 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1978117' first='Davion' last='Luckett'] (City) -- 41   A 5-8 guard with quick hands and feet, Luckett is a pest on the defensive end, constantly putting pressure on opposing ball handlers with his speed and tenacity as an on-ball defender.   9.) 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2523891' first='Carter' last='Thielen'] (Lewis Central) -- 41   A skilled 6-4 wing who makes a major impact on both ends of the floor, Thielen was extremely impressive when we saw him play at the Winterset Shootout in June and he looks primed to have a great sophomore year for the Titans. He has a great feel for the game, high IQ, can score from anywhere, and defend everyone on the floor.   10.) 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1765539' first='Max' last='Roach'] (Waukee) -- 39   Roach was really good on both ends of the floor for the Warriors following his transfer from Oskaloosa, averaging 8.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. He's a quick, instinctual player with a knack for picking when to jump the passing lane and turn defense into offense.
