Live Period Breakout Candidates: '26 G

The introduction of the Scholastic Live Periods has become a crucial element of modern day recruiting and here in the DMV there is no shortage of events (6 total) for college coaches to attend to find the next wave of talent. We thought it would be important to highlight a few prospects that our scouts think are primed for a breakout performance that should net some college interest. Let's begin with the senior guard class in the DMV!    DMV Live   -An athletic combo guard prospect that can score in bunches, I expect college coaches to fall in love with his blend of scoring talent, athletic and physical tools, and two-way potential. Parlow is most comfortable hitting shots from the midrange but he is more than capable of letting it fly from distance and also boasts a better finishing package than most would expect. Would not be surprised to see him have a few scoring outbursts that boost his stock.     DMV Live   -Elliott moves up to the Mt Zion Prep team from the HS team and should make an immediate impact as a scoring point guard prospect. He's got a deceptively-quick first step but is also capable of putting his matchup on a poster. His combination of paint touches and perimeter shooting should make for an intriguing package of skills for college coaches to take notice. Whether it's a really nice pass off the dunk, a poster dunk, or a game-winner-- he seems to be in store for a big weekend.     DMV Live   -A point guard prospect that has intrigued a lot of college coaches with his play during the last HS season and with his AAU team, I think he'll catch his first offer as a flashy point guard prospect that is pretty effective on the ball. The handle has improved to allow him to execute different advanced passing reads off the bounce or from a standstill. If he is able to show the distributing ability with some consistent outside scoring, I expect college coaches to flip from on the fence to a scholarship offer.     DMV Live   -Dixon has turned heads as one of the better true point guards in the local '26 class at the helm of a Fairfax Christian team that will have plenty of bites at the apple with 5 games this weekend. While he is more than capable of creating his own shot from the perimeter, I think his passing and POA defense will catch the eye of college coaches this weekend that will be looking for that skillset. If he's able to show all three, I'd expect some D2 and NAIA schools to get involved.     DMV Live   -A player that we've been higher than the consensus on for awhile, Wilson has the explosive skillset that should make college coaches that are on the fence commit to recruiting. He can hit shots from all three levels, gets to the rim whenever he wants, can guard 1-3, has great athletic tools, and has really boosted his play-making ability. The latter was the biggest swing skill that I think should really captivate college coaches as he turns crosscourt drives into the paint into open 3s for teammates. With the keys to the kingdom at the helm of a very good OLMC group, I would be surprised to not see his college interests boom this weekend.     VHSL Live   -Arguably the biggest stockriser of the spring, I think that trend will continue during the live period as it is typically the time of the year that college coaches tell guys "We like your game, I'll be at your game". The combo guard can really fill it up from the perimeter but has added a ton to his offensive game--specifically with his handle and athleticism. Guards that can take guards off the bounce but also be effective coming off of screens and movement are at a premium-- as are 3 point shooters. Fully expect that trend to push his name to the top of the list this weekend for several programs.
