Expert Analysis
Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
Devine is a super skilled point guard who looks like he has a lot more growth to come physically. What’s great about the 6-foot sophomore’s game is that he has already figured out a nice shooting stroke and he has the skillset necessary to get to spots on the floor when he can get it off. He isn’t going to wow you athletically (that could come, though), but he has good change of speed and direction moves and knows how to utilize head and ball fakes. Devine strikes me as a guy who will continue to grow a lot as time goes on, but the feel for the game and skill are well beyond his years right now.

Devine, a guard out of the MacDuffie School, checks in at #93 overall and #17 among the combo guards. Devine shows an ability to balance playmaking with scoring, showing an understanding of when to attack as a scorer and when to find his teammates for easy baskets. He does a nice job of knocking down shots in catch and shoot situations, as a standstill guy and on the move. He gets up the floor quickly in transition, always has his eyes down-court, and is adept at keeping defenders off balance by playing at different speeds. He’s a gritty defender that pressures the ball at the point of attack and makes opposing ball-handlers uncomfortable.
