22p 6r 2a 2s vs Takoma

-Smooth scoring point guard proved his value to a very underrated Avalon group in a road win over Takoma. Loved how he controlled pace at the offensive end of the floor, speeding from end to end himself or kicking ahead to teammates to ignite the fastbreak while also showing that he has the feel to play out of pick n rolls. Fox started it off with a good diagonal chest pass to a shooter in the middle of the zone, scored a bump n lay off glass in transition, jumped the lane in transition for the steal to save a bucket and score at the other end, hit a C+S above the break 3 just before half time, swooped in for the steal and dime to a teammate (who drew the foul), and scored on a coast to coast drive with a smooth underhand lay off glass to close out the W. He'll need to pack on some upper body weight to play through contact at the HS level but with his speed, ball skills, and aggressive mentality-- I expect that he will shoot up our next set of freshman rankings

18p (4/6 3P) vs Gonzaga (JV)

-Second time I came away impressed by Sabrick in as many tries, showing his value as a shooter that can be moved around in different spots on the court to space the floor with his shooting. Sabrick hit two corner 3s to break the game open for the Panthers, hit a wing 3, curled into an elbow jumper after setting a nice back screen in the flex for his big, and hit a dagger C+S triple in transition to staunch a late Gonzaga run that almost cut the lead to single digits. The shooting ability stands out but his movement off the ball, consistent form, timing coming off of pindowns and flares, and his efficiency to use less than 3 dribbles to get into his shot make him a prospect to know in the freshman class

15p 7a 2r 3s 1b vs Takoma

-A physical, aggressive guard that can play 1-3 for this Avalon team-- he had a phenomenal all-around impact in a road win against Takoma. Arulefela lived in the paint throughout the contest, collecting a ton of assists by hitting the low man or swinging the ball out to one of his shooters on the perimeter. The pace he plays with to push the ball in transition wreaked a ton of havoc in the opposing team, finding teammates while still also finding opportunities to score or earn trips to the line himself. Love the way that he plays with his head up to scan the floor for passing options, seeing his secondary targets in the PnR before executing on his reads.

9p 7r 1a 2s 1b 1 charge vs PVI (JV)

-Loved the all-around impact from a T25 performer in the local class in a game against PVI. Gurdak plays with tremendous feel both on and off the ball, never in a rush but always is the first to react with loose balls or rebounds that pinball around between players. Gurdak scored off a peel to the rim after using a back screen on a BLOB play, timed a lift from the baseline into an elbow jumper off the catch, dribbled into a 3 in transition, jumped passing lanes to snag two steals, and took a big charge in transition. If he can grow anywhere near the height of big bro, his versatile skill base should make him a big-time recruit.

2p 4a 1r 1s vs PVI

-Honestly thought he should've finished with at least 8 assists in this one as Fairfax continued to make the right read to find teammates despite misses or defenders that were able to close the gap in time. Fairfax has a nice change of pace OTB, using ball screens to stretch the defense and put pressure on the backside rotations to beat the roll man to the spot under the rim. He's a pure PG that gets into gaps well, always has his eyes upcourt to initiate in transition, and grabbed a nice steal before taking it C2C and scoring through the bump off the window at the other end. Want to see him call his number more often as one of the leaders on this team because short jumpers or floaters are there-- he's just looking to make a play for somebody else.
