-Got a chance to see him run Gonzaga’s JV unit at a high level last season as a throwback point guard who is constantly probing the defense to create advantage opportunities. Fairfax protects the ball well on drives to the rim and doesn’t force the envelope, showing really good feel as he will sometimes halt his dribble to allow the rest of the play to develop and his passing targets to work themselves open. Waiting that extra half beat to allow his teammates to set off-ball screens on the other side to free up shooters is a detail that you usually don’t see from an underclassmen guard. Love Fairfax’s feel operating at the top of the key as he serves as a dangerous threat to score or create for himself from the elbows. Excited to see how he is utilized in a new system under Coach Urgo.

-Honestly thought he should’ve finished with at least 8 assists in this one as Fairfax continued to make the right read to find teammates despite misses or defenders that were able to close the gap in time. Fairfax has a nice change of pace OTB, using ball screens to stretch the defense and put pressure on the backside rotations to beat the roll man to the spot under the rim. He’s a pure PG that gets into gaps well, always has his eyes upcourt to initiate in transition, and grabbed a nice steal before taking it C2C and scoring through the bump off the window at the other end. Want to see him call his number more often as one of the leaders on this team because short jumpers or floaters are there– he’s just looking to make a play for somebody else.
