Big 3 Flex for Fremd

Fremd came into their game against Hampshire at 9-1, but early on it was the hot shooting of Hampshire that was the talk of the gym. Then Fremd's upperclassmen trio of stars took over and it was a 77-55 Fremd victory. First we want to talk about the show that [player_tooltip player_id='2323270' first='Jordan' last='Williams'] put on. Wow was the 6'6” combo forward impressive with what he brought to the table. The athleticism, strength, and handles popped from the very jump. His physicality off the bounce using his power and spin moves to score in the paint were impressive. Ran the floor for points and got on the glass, but it was mainly his consistent ability to put pressure on the rim that was the difference maker in this game. Also got fouled and made his free throws when they presented themselves. He had 26 points in the win. Looking like a prospect that will get a bump in our next update. [player_tooltip player_id='2540096' first='Rafael' last='Pinto'] is a junior shooting guard who we saw shoot it well over the summer, but it was his slashing and getting on the offensive boards that shined in this one. Had a nose for the ball and scored well in the paint for 21 points. [player_tooltip player_id='1545144' first='Samuel' last='Hirsch'] had a big game as well for Fremd as the shooter with size did what he does best popping three triples in the win while notching 14 points.

For Hampshire it was Ryan Prowicz who started off banging in NBA range threes early in the game. Also jabbed stepped to set one up and worked well around ball screens as a passer. Well built senior had 10 points. [player_tooltip player_id='1552433' first='Devin' last='Bach'] is an undersized big man who came off the bench and provided a spark for Hampshire as they made a bit of a run in the third quarter. Tough around the hoop and rebounded well along with scoring 7 points.

Wegrzyn Proves to Be One of Premier Posts in 2026

The last game of the night was Libertyville who came in with a 7-1 record against Streamwood. Their big man [player_tooltip player_id='1552460' first='Bryce' last='Wegrzyn'] left no doubt who the best player was in Libertyville's 77-33 victory. The 6'8” five man was absolutely DOMINANT in the first half scoring 25 of his game high 33 points. Scored 8 in a row to start the second half and then never came back in with the contest in hand. Got everything he wanted and played like a true big man. Sealed, quick cuts, spin moves, right handed hook shots, high pointed rebounds for put backs, rim runs, and powerful jams in traffic. It was the definition of man among boys as he was unguardable. Would like to see him again against a higher level of post player, but he looked like a no doubt mid-major post in this game scoring at will and grabbing every rebound. Libertyville has another emerging star in freshman shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='2540198' first='Terrence' last='Davis']. The 6'2” two guard racked up steal after steal in the early going at record pace. Has such an innate feel for finding the ball and getting it on the defensive end. Offensively the long and lanky wing is silky smooth getting to the rim with relative ease. Clean jumper as well which he can knock in from two and three. In their first round game Davis had 11 points. Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2442135' first='Liam' last='Hanson'] is a great glue guy for this team. He does a little bit of everything. Such an active defender with steals, deflections, and blocks. Solid ball handler that can create in the mid-range and get out in transition as he had 6 points. Also was excellent as a distributor finding the big fella all game long.

For Streamwood a name to keep tabs on is 2027 combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='2750002' first='Byron' last='Walton']. Lefty who has a clean stroke from beyond the arc. Brings plus athleticism and a rangy frame to the table. Slick ball handler that can score in the lane had 16 points.

Quick Hitters

We weren't able to catch the middle two games of the night session live, but wanted to give you a quick recap.

Stevenson 65 Niles Notre Dame 47

Niles Notre Dame got out early, but the rest of the game would belong to Stevenson as they won 65-47. Senior 6'6” forward [player_tooltip player_id='2442139' first='Liam' last='Curtin'] led the way with 17 points in the win. As always Winona State commit [player_tooltip player_id='1564889' first='Aidan' last='Bardic'] stuffed the stat sheet as the floor general had 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 dimes. Junior standout guard [player_tooltip player_id='1552481' first='Rocco' last='Pagliocca'] contributed 11 points. Niles Notre Dame senior standout [player_tooltip player_id='1434463' first='Brady' last='Sehlhorst'] led his team in scoring with 11 points.

Glenbrook North 69 Wheeling 41

The next first round game saw the host school Wheeling fall to Glenbrook North 69-41. The leading scorer for Glenbrook North was 6'1” 2025 guard Jordan Cohen with a massive game of 25 points. Ryan Weil (12 points) and Nate Fridman (10 points) also played major parts in the GBN victory. Wheeling had a pair of top performers with Kye Peterson dropping 20 points while Brent Collar was close behind with 15 points.
