Byron is a two-way, high-motor guard who does whatever it takes to win. Basketball Paradise had a great weekend at Prep Hoops Live, and Byron was the engine behind much of that success. Against Alexander Alive, he consistently beat defenders off the bounce and made smart downhill decisions by taking what the defense gave him. He was excellent around the rim, finishing through contact multiple times while showing toughness and body control. Byron also flashed some shiftiness with the ball along with sneaky athleticism. He finished with an efficient 14 points and was one of the more impactful guards I watched all weekend.

Byron checked in off the bench in the 8am game for Basketball Paradise and immediately brought another level of energy to the floor. He’s always in attack mode, and plays with impressive change of speed on the ball. Able to create separation for a pull-up jumper, or hesitate and then blow by you to get to the rim. Listed at 6’1 but has impressive length that helps him play even bigger than that size. Not afraid to sit deep in a stance where he has good lateral quickness to consistently cut off opposing ball handlers and get over screens on the perimeter.

Walton helped Basketball Paradise 17U make a statement Sunday morning with a win over Da Future out of Iowa, and eventually finish the weekend with a 2-2 record.

He showed patience on the perimeter, allowing the defense to shift before knocking down a three. He also created off the bounce, using a change of pace to get downhill where he showed good hang time on his finishes. In transition and half-court actions, he flashed playmaking ability, including a wing drive and wraparound pass for an assist. He also showed value as a facilitator in ball-screen situations, making reads and keeping the offense moving.
