<p>The Minnesota High school basketball season officially kicked off last Wednesday with a three game day, and Friday and Saturday had a number of games combined. The season really will get underway for many schools starting today with 29 games but really Tuesday with 124 games.</p>

<p>Thursday, Friday, and Saturday aren't slouches with 91, 96, and 53 games each day. Saturday will bring back a long standing season kick-off with the Breakdown Tip-Off Classic at Hopkins and Edina this year.</p>

<p>Monday Games and Prospects<br><br>Cherry vs Mountain Iron-Buhl - Cherry the Single A 2023-24 champion returns [player_tooltip player_id='1579910' first='Noah' last='Sundquist'], [player_tooltip player_id='1601068' first='Noah' last='Asuma'], [player_tooltip player_id='2126128' first='Isaiah' last='Asuma'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1579911' first='Carson' last='Brown']. MIB returns [player_tooltip player_id='2451450' first='TJ' last='DuChamp'] who averaged 24 points per game last year while shooting 38% from 3 while making 89 3-pointers. Also returning is 19 point, 12 rebounds a year 2025 senior Chris King.</p>

<p>Austin vs Byron - Byron led by [player_tooltip player_id='1575327' first='Max' last='Dearborn'], [player_tooltip player_id='2104485' first='Will' last='Brian'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1939373' first='Colin' last='Hansen'] will be a tough South Minnesota team. Austin, coming off an uncharacteristic 9-18 season return [player_tooltip player_id='2439121' first='Mikah' last='Christopherson'] and have six-foot-five-inch wing [player_tooltip player_id='1560869' first='Banyaan' last='Omot']. </p>

<p>Monticello vs St. Michael - Both teams have played regular season games already, Monticello is 1-0 with a 20 point win over Delano and STMA has beaten Rogers and Bemidji. STMA more senior driven with 2027 7 footer [player_tooltip player_id='2126108' first='Jack' last='Thelen'], and Monticello two seniors with 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2140576' first='Carson' last='Deibele'] on the wing.</p>

<p>East Ridge vs Lakeville North - East Ridge led by D1 offered point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1560882' first='Cedric' last='Tomes'] will be a force again in 4A. East Ridge won 16 straight games last season before Tartan took them down in Section 4 semifinal. Lakeville North returns 2025 senior [player_tooltip player_id='2422065' first='Drew' last='Kolander'] who should be a force inside, and 2026 forward Dane Denielson. </p>

<p>Park Center vs Minneapolis Washburn - A slightly reworked Pirates team looks to rebound from their disappointing finish to their 2023-24 season. The Pirates added [player_tooltip player_id='1574215' first='Abu' last='Keita'] on the wing to pair with [player_tooltip player_id='1574214' first='Temi' last='Omotoyinbo'], and have six-foot-six-inch forward [player_tooltip player_id='2614702' first='Emmanuel' last='Jentzen'] up front. All this is led by 2026 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1560839' first='Xavier' last='Frelix'] who looked very comfortable and in control of the offense at a Breakdown game this fall.</p>
