The 11th annual Myrtle Chaffin Classic took place this past weekend at Mt. Zion Academy, the unofficial start to the season for prep and independent teams from all over. This year's event featured teams from NJ, PA, MD, VA, GA and CA, with tons of talent from all over taking place.

The Commonwealth Basketball Group (CBG) has put together an All Tournament team, with players from all the teams being represented. Here's a look at part one of the players selected from teams in Maryland.

Chris Jeffrey | 6'3” PG | Mt. Zion Prep '25 | First Team

Jeffrey was fantastic for MZP in their wins over Konnect Prep and Golden State Grey before sitting out their third game against Prestige Prep to rest his ankle, and the Maryland commit looks like a front runner for EPL Player of the Year this season. The 6'3” guard has improved his game as far as his ability to knock down shots from deep off the catch and off the bounce, making him even more difficult to guard. He showed his usual ability to put pressure on the defense and finish through contact, and his 35 points in their win over Golden State was the highest point total of the entire event.

[player_tooltip player_id='1782657' first='Neiko' last='Mundey'] | 6'3” WG | PGCA '26 | First Team

Mundey is widely considered one of the best scorers in the 2026 class in the DMV, and he showed that with a loud 32 points in a win over a very talented Phelps National team. The 6'3” wing has grown into his body and is has become super explosive, which he showed with four big time highlight dunks in just that game. I recently came to the realization that his NBA player comp is Gilbert Arenas, as he has the ability to hit very difficult shots from all over, he scores the ball in bunches and he can play on or off the ball as well.

Quron Elliot | 6'2” CG | Mt. Zion National | First Team

Elliot was fantastic for a Mt. Zion team that is very well balanced and talented from top to bottom, and he had some big time performances including 22 points in their win over a post grad team in Rocktop Academy. The 6'2” guard has good positional size and an all-around skillset that leads to him being able to impact the game in a number of different ways. He's a knock down shooter from deep off the catch, he's dynamic in transition as a scorer and a playmaker and he flew around and made plays defensively too.

Emmanuel Kanga | 6'9” PF | Mt. Zion Prep | Second Team

The George Mason commit is still working his way back from an achilles injury that had him sidelined all last season, but he showed flashes of how good he will likely be in a few months when he's completely comfortable again. The 6'9” forward is still a freak athlete who can run the floor with guards and play above the rim with ease. He rebounded well particularly on the offensive end for easy buckets, he showed good touch around the rim with both hands and even showed his range out past the three-point line too.

[player_tooltip player_id='1370501' first='Jaren' last='Curtis'] | 6'1” CG | PGCA '25 | Honorable Mention

Curtis was a standout in the WCAC at Bishop McNamara since he was a freshman, and he made the move to PGCA (Shabach) this summer and he now has a much bigger role with this group. The 6'1” combo showed his usual high motor on both ends of the floor, while also putting up impressive scoring numbers as their secondary option. He showed good athleticism as a finisher both in transition and through traffic, he made shots from multiple levels both on and off the ball and he was great on the defensive end and on the glass as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2347764' first='Wisdom' last='Carter'] | 6'5” WF | PGCA '27 | Honorable Mention

Carter is a player to keep an eye on moving forward after transferring to PGCA and reclassifying to the 2027 class, and he showed a lot of flashes of how good he can be moving forward. He has prototypical positional size for the next level, coupled with good athleticism and a skillset that will continue to get better moving forward. He showed athletic finishing ability above the rim, good ball skills as a secondary ball handler and playmaker and he made an array of different shots from multiple levels too.
