Conference Commentary

Top Ten in State: Breck, Minnehaha Academy

The state champs from a year ago are one of the major favorites for Class AA as they and Albany work towards getting a second title in the last three years. The Mustangs have six players back from last year's state title rotation including three starters so the opportunity is there. Minnehaha Academy has gone to state the last eight straight seasons and they return four of their five starters so it would seem like they are in a great spot to make it nine in a row. Can they win this league though? That might be the greater challenge. And the challenge that could be the most fun to watch.

Top Ten Potential: Blake

Blake has four starters back from a 19-win team. They lost their best player but four starters returning should give them the chance to have a very good year that pushes towards league and section, and maybe the top ten too. Breck is in the way of all of it but the games could be closer this year.

Compete with Most: St. Paul Academy

SPA lost their best three players and their best three players did a ton for them, nearly got them to state. SPA has a couple starters back so it's not a rebuilding but they are going to look different.

Rebuilding: Providence Academy, Mounds Park Academy

Providence Academy won six games last year and graduated most of their key players. George Jacobson is a good player back and they have some young guys but this is a reset. Mounds Park Academy has a 20+ per game scorers back but what was around him has moved on so it seems MPA is still in that rebuild stage.
