Was one of the best athletes on the floor in the games I viewed. The senior forward/center has good height and size for his position as he continues his development journey. He sets screens for his teammates, has a nice baseline jump shot, and is skillful in the pick-and-pop offense. “Athletic” and will dunk on drives to the basket (Nice Vertical Leap). A decent rebounder on both ends, which can translate to dominant rebounding if he applies himself to those efforts. Can get up and down the court with or without the basketball. Also capable of going coast to coast for the score. Can help make a team good with other good talent. (LL)

One of the tallest players at camp, Yamashita was also arguably the most athletic in the gym. This was clearly evident in the 5×5 games where the rising senior forward was constantly rim running and getting open on the break for a number of impressive breakaway dunks – of which he probably had a total of 6 or 7. In the halfcourt he largely settled for jump shots but he showed good range and was fairly accurate from the corners.

One of the top big men in attendance, Yamashita effectively used his length and athleticism. This was particularly evident on the boards as the rising senior grabbed the most rebounds from the games we watched. He ran the floor extremely well which led to some strong finishes above the rim. Offensively he largely operated from the perimeter, knocking down jumpers both off the catch and the pull-up from mid-range out past the three-point line.

The big man had a nice season for the Mustangs, where his basketball iq & skill level were on display. He showed a nice face up game & the ability to make the right pass when needed. Continued improvement on his body will lead to a big senior season.

It’s been a bit of a rough year in terms of wins and losses at Milwaukie this season with their young and inexperienced roster, but one shining light has been Yamashita. While the young post is still developing, he’s shown the ability to score inside while also having a nice face-up jumper, and has posted some double figure scoring games this year.
