Ben impressed again with a strong offensive performance against Wayzata. He has a smooth jumper and consistently knocks down the three-point shot. Even more impressive was his effectiveness putting the ball on the floor, as he finished at the rim effortlessly multiple times on Tuesday night. Ben has showed me multiple times that he has a complete offensive game; I expect that to translate on the varsity level for the sophomore.

Ben had a good showing in Tuesday night clash with a loaded Hopkins squad. He is a quality athlete with a high motor and aggressive, well-balanced attack. He showcased those traits as he drove the lane, finishing through contact at the rim and getting to the line often. He also stepped out and knocked down shots from behind the arc, rounding out an impressive performance.

Ben impressed last year at the Freshman Showcase, and this year was a standout at the Sophomore ID Camp. He has the chance to develop into a dangerous shooter out on the wing for Maple Grove. Anytime a teammate penetrated the defense, Ben was moving out on the perimeter to create an angle for a kick-out pass, and when the ball came his way he didn’t miss much. Ben has a smooth release on his shot, and does a nice job of quickly getting his hands and feet set to catch and shoot on the move.

Ben is another prospect on this Hoop Habits 15U squad that has a great combination of size and perimeter skills. He was at his best when driving downhill, finishing through traffic. He can also stretch the floor, as I saw him connect on a triple. Banwart is pretty versatile as a defender as well, blocking both layups and jump shots.
