A versatile prospect, Imade has done well in a secondary role for Sycamore this season. Second on the team in scoring, rebounding and field goal %, Imade has found his niche role on an Aviators team looking to capture a district title. I like how Imade can defend on the perimeter and provide rebounding and size in the paint. He also started to flash the 3-point shot, knocking down 32% of his 50 attempts this season. If he can continue to become a more reliable option off the catch, it will help the floor spacing of Sycamore’s offense. Fans can catch Imade in a district final on Sunday at Xavier University.
A prospect who saw his season come to an end against Imade’s Sycamore squad, Riep showed a lot of growth this season in a handful of areas on the court. Riep averaged 11.4 PPG but I was more impressed with his 7.1 RPG. Showing toughness in the paint is a key area of growth for Riep, who has the ball handling a fluidity to play on the perimeter. Riep also threw down some impressive dunks this season, including an alley-oop in the playoff loss to Sycamore. If Riep can improve his perimeter shooting percentages (18% 3-point, 54% free throw) he will continue to rise up our rankings. I expect scholarship programs to be heavy after Riep this summer.
A multi-sport athlete who has been on an absolute tear since January, Theado has been flat out dominating for Bishop Watterson. A problem on the block due to his strength and physicality, it’s easy to see why Theado is a standout on the gridiron when you watch him on the hardwood. A prospect who flat out produces game after game, Theado does work in the post and plays with a high motor. Tough to stop on drives due to his ability to occasionally stretch the floor with a jumper, Theado plays off two feet on drives. Watterson is playing excellent basketball heading into a district final against Jonathan Alder, we’ll see if they can advance to the regional stage of the tournament.
