There are a ton of games throughout the state, there will be elite talent on display, and there are some great matchups!
In this article, PHD is doing a Player Watchlist for Class A and we are giving you reasons to watch each player. The games are played this evening March 5th.

Class A SoDak 16
WHY?-He will be a major Stock Riser in the next Rankings update
-Vermillion might have a tough time matching his physicality, explosiveness, and rebounding prowess
Highlights
WHY?-Draws a ton of attention from the defense & he still produces a Double-Double, makes life easier on everyone else
-Stingy & unyielding D, strong, never gives & inch, great feet & hands, crafty & skilled moves, high% finisher, DUNKS often
WHY?-One of the fastest & quickest players in the SoDak 16, excellent pull-up jump shot, scores from every level
-Intense, great passer & teammate, has all the skills, competitor, it will be interesting to see if Milbank can contain him
WHY?-His maturity & skill on the hardwood are beyond impressive, impressive size & athleticism
-SFC will have little trouble tonight, it will be interesting to see if the Chargers are business-like & play a clean game
WHY?-He missed a good part of the season with an injury but is now healthy and playing well
-Mulder can really fill it up, scores points it a hurry from 3-pt land, in transition & many other ways, dangerous O-threat
WHY?-He scored 12 points & grabbed 8 rebounds in the overtime victory over Lennox
-Good length, versatile scoring weapon, legit threat from 3, will also create off the bounce
Highlights
WHY?-Great length, bounce, mobility, athleticism
-I am assuming that he will have to guard Griffen Goodbary Griffen Goodbary 6’10” | PF Sioux Falls Christian | 2025 State SD , it will be fun to see how he looks against the stud prospect
WHY?-Having a nice sophomore season with 12 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.7 spg
-A talented perimeter shooter, will get hot in a hurry like a microwave
WHY?-Another Brave who is having a quality soph season, 12.3 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 1.4 apg
-Plays very hard, gives full effort, his motor never slows, can score the rock in a variety of ways
WHY?-An amazing passer, ball-on-a-string handles, perfect timing, exceptional execution
-Scores when needed, crafty & skilled finisher, can hit the jump shot from all levels, sneaky & problematic defender
Highlights
WHY?-17 points, 6 boards, 3 assists in last round win, recently scored his 1,000th career point
-Length & mobility make him a tough matchup, should have the size advantage against whoever guards him from RCCS
WHY?-20.4 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2.1 apg, 3.2 spg, 1.1 bpg
-As quick as a cat, Cossacks could struggle to keep him in front, serious rebounder, a pesky thief on defense
WHY?-Scored 10 points & grabbed 4 rebounds in the blowout win over Bon Homme
-Long, big, thick, takes up space in the paint, brings an interior presence, knows how to use his size
WHY?-Superstar athlete, will be playing football at SDSU next fall, you will not have many chances left to watch him play hoops
-Has the talent, strength, and explosiveness to take over the game, eye-opening dunker
WHY?-27 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1 spg, 62 FG%
-Rockstar sr season, will likely be All-State, plays hard, always brings the juice, strong, intense, skilled, nose for the ball
Highlights
WHY?-Had a quality game vs. Bon Homme with 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 boards
-Capable of scoring big points, jumps & elevates well, makes plays in up-tempo, quality jump shooter
WHY?-Averaging 12.5 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.3 spg for the 21-1 Thorpes
-Sweet shooting stroke, you do not want to give him space around the arc, game-changer from 3
WHY?-If the Blackhawks make this a game, he will need to have a monster game & shoot like Jeff Boschee Jeff Boschee 6’2″ | CG Sanborn Central-Woonsocket | 2024 State SD from the Jayhawks
-Jeff scored 33 points last round to upset Parkston
WHY?-Very long arms, no stranger to a Double-Double, smart, natural basketball instincts
-Crafty & skilled in the post, beautiful jump shot, can’t stop his fadeaway J, RCCS will need his D around the rim tonight
WHY?-21 ppg, 4 rpg, 4 apg, 2 spg, 50 FG%, 40 3FG%
-All-encompassing playmaker, elite passer & teammate, sharpshooter, does the little things, great leader, fierce competitor
WHY?-If the Stangs want to be in the game, Levyn will have to be great on defense vs. Tish from DV, it will be a battle
-Has good length, battles in the post for position, will likely front Wingert, is aggressive on the glass, quick to the ball
WHY?-18.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.3 apg, 43 FG%
-Played well in the Tea win with 19 pts, 5 reb, 3 ast, 3 stl, elite shot-maker, Mustangs will have to account for him all game
WHY?-23.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 4.7 apg, 2.3 spg, 49 FG%
-Leader & dude for 20-1 Thorpes, mature player for his age, name it & Marvin can do it, A-list skills, talented scorer/passer
WHY?-Helps lead the O for the Bison, skilled/smart player, makes things happen going to the basket, creates for himself & others
-Disruptive on D, impressive handles, good body control scoring around iron, threads needle but also make the easy pass
WHY?-Having an awesome senior season, he & Squires make for a nasty 1-2 punch
-Scores from all angles/levels, has extended 3-pt range shooting, athletic finisher, skilled passer, smart all-around player
WHY?-Skilled with the rock, crafty passer, will need to provide some serious scoring if they want to upset DV
-Smooth baller, he can drain the triple, scores off the dribble, creative & versatile, opportunistic in transition
WHY?-14.5 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 2.9 apg, 2 spg
-SV will want to control tempo & slow things down, Casey will want to push tempo/play fast, great rebounder for his size
WHY?Good size & skill for his age, a nice complimentary player to Lane Tietz
-If Groton wins tonight, they will need quality contributions from Mr. Johnson
WHY?-Groton will have a tough time with him in the paint, Kloth could be the X-factor in this one
-Moves very for his extreme length, protects rim, changes shots, do not be surprised if he throws down a few dunks tonight
WHY?-Had a monster game in the OT winner over Lennox, 28 points, 7 boards, 3 assists, 3 steals
-Makes for a tough matchup with his length, shooting, and playmaking ability
WHY?-Hit 4 triples and scored 21 in the large-margin victory over Clark-Willow Lake
-Has a diverse scoring package, one of the best jump shooters in SD, WINNER, extended shooting range, tough all-around
WHY?-The Bulldogs will need his length & interior production against a tough Comets team tonight
-Can score from the block with some quality moves, long arms, will produce on the glass
