Kentucky All-Stars defeat Indiana, First Win Since 2008
Kentucky is a basketball state. And so is Indiana, and Indiana has been on the right side of the winning column for 17 straight games competing in the annual Kentucky vs. Indiana All-Stars. That streak ended tonight as Kentucky defeated Indiana 111-110 in 2 overtimes. It was the first time the annual classic went into a double-overtime.
The kids from the Bluegrass were led by Jake Ohmer. (And) if you thought his Sweet Sixteen performances were a fluke (how could you? The kid can play), he definitely proved his worth tonight, scoring 30 points, leading Kentucky on the stat sheet. The Western Kentucky signee also had 7 rebounds and 7 steals.
Kentucky didn’t make it easy on themselves, though. Up 82-66 with under 10 minutes left in the game, Indiana would go on a run and knot it up at 96 a piece at the end of regulation, promoting the game to go into overtime after a missed 3 by Indiana’s Jaylen Minnett. Kentucky would outscore Indiana 15-14 in both overtime periods combined to seal the win.
