On Monday, our ranking updates continued with the 2024 class. You can check out the Top 75 juniors in Oklahoma RIGHT HERE. Throughout the week, we’ll take more of a look at the 2024 class with breakdowns on various prospects throughout the rankings. In this post, we’re taking a look at five prospects that made significant jumps in the recent ranking update. From a prospect jumping into the top ten to much more, these five prospects have earned quite a bit of respect from their play on the court so far this season.
Nathan Hale junior guard Kabron Lewis Kabron Lewis 6’2″ | CG Hale | 2024 State OK jumped into the top ten overall rankings this week after his spectacular junior season. Lewis was on our radar last summer following a breakout sophomore season. He followed that up with a great showing at our Top250 Expo event in October and was one of the top performers. And all Lewis has done this season for the Rangers is help lead them to hosting a regional and they are not only a state tournament contender, they are one of several teams you have to take seriously as a gold ball contender. Lewis has shown the full skillset this season for the Rangers. He can absolutely fill it up from all over the floor. He can drive and finish with some serious athleticism. He can shoot it from all over the floor. Lewis is definitely in the discussion for best players in Class 5A this season and if the Rangers go on to make a state tourney or gold ball run, you would have to put him in the discussion for state player of the year. He’s had that kind of impact on the Rangers this season. When you talk about “Stock Risers” in recruiting, Lewis is a perfect example of that. He’s taken his game to a new level this winter.

Metro Christian is ranked #1 in Class 3A and are one of the favorites to raise a gold ball in March. And the Patriots are going to be in the hunt again in 2023-2024 as they return Wyatt Powell Wyatt Powell 6’3″ | SG Metro Christian | 2024 State OK , one of the more dynamic guards in Class 3A this season. Powell is a prospect that we’ve seen in person quite a few times this season and it’s really hard not to be impressed with his growth from this time last year. Powell has always been a really good shooter and he can absolutely fill it up. That’s one of the things that really stood out to us earlier in the season. He can hit shots from all over the floor and he does it at a very efficient clip. But one thing that has helped vault Powell in this recent ranking update is his athleticism and defensive ability. We think that Powell might be one of the more underrated athletes in the state’s 2024 class. That’s one thing that makes Dale superstar Dayton Forsythe Dayton Forsythe 6’3″ | PG Dale | 2024 State #206 Nation OK so special. Not only does he have all the other tools for a top prospect but his leaping ability is underrated. That’s what we see when we watch Powell play and we think that he’s primed for a huge spring and summer.

Union center Erik Madrid Erik Madrid 7’1″ | C Union | 2024 State OK has to be in the conversation for the most unique prospect in the state of Oklahoma, regardless of class. He’s a legitimate 7-footer and is only a junior, we just haven’t seen that very often in Oklahoma over the last decade. Madrid has risen in the rankings because of the height and his ability to be a double-double machine. He’s been one of Union’s top scorers all season and he’s been consistently at the top of the scoring in just about every game. And one thing we’ve mentioned before that we’re looking forward to seeing is his continued growth in all four quarters. Madrid has always gotten off to hot starts and has scoring spurts in some of the various quarters. Once Madrid starts putting that complete package together as he works on his speed, quickness and can handle more minutes, the other stuff will fall into place. There just aren’t many players in Oklahoma that can handle Madrid when he gets the ball in the block. The biggest key moving forward will be the quickness and stamina aspect. The more he stays on the floor, the more he impacts the game at a high level.

Yukon point guard Dylan Snow Dylan Snow 5’10” | PG Yukon | 2024 State OK is another guard that made a huge jump in the recent ranking update. Snow has emerged this season as one of the better shooters from downtown in Class 6A this season. And the thing that really impresses us about Snow is his ability to fill it up and get his shot no matter who the opponent is on any given night. Snow has routinely been Yukon’s leading scorer this season and has filled up the stat sheet against just about everyone. We’re looking forward to watching more of Snow this spring and summer and to see his continued growth in the other areas of his game. Snow is definitely a guard to keep an eye on this offseason as he becomes a more complete player. He’s known primarily as a shooter right now but he’s shown that he can do more than just shoot so far this season. He’s a physical guard that’s not afraid to get in the paint and bang with bigger players to fight for rebounds. Snow also does a good job of getting other players around him involved. Snow made a big jump in the recent ranking update and we’re looking forward to seeing what’s next for the Yukon standout.
Our final prospect that made a sizable jump in the recent ranking update was Inola forward Jackson Welch Jackson Welch 6’7″ | SG Inola | 2024 State OK and just like the other four prospects on this breakdown, Welch seems primed for a big spring and summer. In the 20-40 range of our rankings, there are a few prospects that all range from 6’5-6’7 and Welch is one of them. What puts Welch near the top of that group is his ability to shoot the ball at an extremely consistent level right now. Welch came into this season known for being more of a catch and shoot prospect but it appears that his overall athleticism and his ability to make plays off the dribble has also improved dramatically. And as he continues to improve that skillset, he definitely has the frame and shooting ability to continue to climb up these rankings. We’re looking forward to seeing the continued improvement from Welch and it’s not crazy to think that he could flirt with being a top ten overall prospect after this spring and summer. We have seen similar prospects in terms of size and skillset make that kind of leap after strong offseasons and Welch could be the next up.
