Hunter starred on the adidas 3SSB circuit with Team Loaded, averaging 19.6 points and 3.5 assists per game while establishing himself as one of the premier scoring guards in the class. A dynamic offensive weapon, he is equally effective playing on or off the ball, making him a difficult matchup for opposing defenses. Hunter is a reliable shot maker who can score both off the catch and off the dribble, consistently creating offense for himself and stretching defenses from the perimeter. An above average athlete, he attacks the basket with confidence, finishes effectively in traffic, and has the ability to make plays at all three levels. Beyond his scoring ability, Hunter possesses a strong feel for the game, making smart reads and contributing as a playmaker when defenses collapse.

has firmly established himself as one of the elite players in Virginia’s 2027 class. Ranked No. 5 overall in the state and the No. 3 shooting guard, Hunter has backed up every bit of the hype this spring.
The 6-foot-3 guard has been one of the most productive scorers on the Adidas 3SSB circuit, averaging 25 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game during Session 2. His ability to create offense at all three levels makes him one of the toughest covers in the region.
Hunter’s development has been evident since arriving at Hargrave Military Academy. Playing a national schedule has accelerated his growth, and he’s become one of the most complete offensive weapons in the state. He’s been the leading scorer for Team Loaded VA 17U and has consistently delivered in big moments against high-level competition.
As college coaches continue evaluating the 2027 class, Hunter is a name that should be near the top of recruiting boards. Expect his recruitment to take another significant jump over the coming months.

getting to his spots in the paint. The dynamic downhill driver was a blur in transition that filled it up offensively by bullying his way to the rack. I liked the progression in his pace coming off of ball screens as the game has slowed down for Hunter. He has improved the little details of waiting for cutters to cut through, retreat dribble waiting for the screen to be set and coming off it shoulder to shoulder before turning the shoulder to get downhill in a beeline to the rim. He’s starting to see and execute designed reads off the bounce to backdoor cutters and is improving his patience to let the play develop and the shooters to get to their spot before delivering sharp passes. The jumper has also improved beyond the arc off the catch with more consistent elbow placement and follow-through. Like his upside defensively as a disruptive POA defender that uses his quickness to get into passing lanes and disrupt his opponent’s tempo with how he fights over ball screens. Physical, assertive guard that is developing into a more well-rounded prospect.

A talented scoring guard, Hunter was scoring it in multiple ways and showing off his impressive athletic tools. Hunter uses his quick first step to gain an advantage as he lived in the paint all day. Hunter also rebounded the ball at a high level as his overall activity was impressive. When Hunter is making perimeter shots, he becomes an extremely tough guard to stop from going on quick scoring outbursts.

Hunter was the bell cow for Team Loaded, who finished the weekend 3-1 overall. If there’s anything that he showed dating back to last summer, it’s that he’s a relentless downhill threat that not many defenders can keep at bay for consecutive possessions. Not only does that create opportunities for him to make plays around the rim, but also force the defense to collapse and find looks for those around him. Making the transition as a point guard has a focal point since the start of his junior season and he’s taken significant strides in comparison to his sophomore showing. He’s still wired to score and made over 45 percent of his attempts from the field while converting a perfect 100 percent from the charity stripe. Hunter’s high-scoring performance came behind 21 points in a win over Washington Warriors, but his best overall stat line came in the win over Midwest Basketball Club where he accounted for 14 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds. On the weekend, he averaged 14.5 points, 4.3 assists and 3.8 rebounds.

Hunter was getting busy all game on both ends of the court and did what was needed to lead his team to victory. Hunter provided tough on ball pressure defensively and forced a handful of turnovers. Offensively, Hunter was tough to stay in front of at the point of attack and used his impressive burst and change of direction to attack the basket. Hunter also had a couple impressive coast to coast buckets where he’d grab a defensive rebound and take it all the way to the other end. At the end of the game Hunter had a strong and-1 finish to help secure the win.

I feel like I’m higher than most on Hunter ever since I saw him in June during the scholastic live period where, to put it simply, there wasn’t a defender to keep him from finding his way to the rim. That theme remains even when you watch the opposing defender cut off his first or second move, the 6-foot-3 guard somehow finds an angle to expose and get his attempt off cleanly. While the mechanics on the jumper aren’t textbook, there’s been a body of evidence over the last four months that clearly indicates improvement. He’s one of the better scoring guards who continues to show flashes as a guy transitioning his game and blending in floor general characteristics. Nevertheless, his total production was key in their win over Petersburg (VA)

Having long been forced to take a backseat in talent-laden situations in both high school and AAU, Hunter finally looks ripe for a breakout if his play on Saturday morning was any indication. Having reclassed to 2027 and running it back with Takeover again on the 16U level, he’s always oozed talent when given the opportunity but was a consistent factor on Saturday with the chance to be a featured piece. Hunter shines with a dynamic handle and quick first step to punish defenders on the perimeter and touch the paint with regularity, where he finishes with a blend of dexterity and explosion. He has great tools for the defensive end with his length and quickness, and has shown the ability to be a reliable shooter off the catch from deep. The half-brother of Jaden Ivey (Detroit Pistons) and the son of an NFL player, Hunter’s upside could prove to be really interesting as the game continues to slow down for him with increased reps.
