As usual, we got a chance to get out and take in some games in the Portland/Salem area and here are some of the top performers we saw in the Classes of 2025 and 2026.
Brayden Boe Brayden Boe 6'5" | CG Mountainside | 2025 State #254 Nation OR (2025 Mountainside)
In the last Class of 2025 rankings, Boe moved up to #2 and it’s pretty clear so far this season that shift was much warranted. The sophomore guard has been spectacular with his play at the point and he was flat out dominant in a win over Grants Pass. He used his strength to overpower smaller defenders whenever he got down low, getting baskets in multiple ways or passing it to open teammates for scores. Boe even showed off his increased vertical with a fast break jam. He pretty much did it all while nearly racking up a triple-double with 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists.
Walt Rosenberg (2025 McMinnville)
Rosenberg was our find of the week as he’ll enter our next Class of 2025 rankings update as one of the top sophomore post players in the state. At 6-foot-6 with a sturdy build, he certainly has the physical dimensions to post up strong but you can also tell he’s been well taught how to establish position – not a surprise considering he’s the son of a former big man, Linfield head coach Shanan Rosenberg. The younger Rosenberg has big hands, solid footwork, and a soft touch around the hoop and showed signs of being able to hit shots facing up. He finished with a game-high 26 points and grabbed 7 boards. One to watch.
Peyton Bruner Peyton Bruner 6'3" | PG Grants Pass | 2025 State OR (2025 Grants Pass)
Tough road loss for Grants Pass at Mountainside but one shining star was Bruner. The 6-foot-2 guard utilized his size to overpower opponents, so once he created off the dribble and got into the lane he simply shot over smaller defenders. He didn’t just score inside but also stepped out and showed range out past the three-point line. He led the Cavemen with 20 points.
Cruz Veliz Cruz Veliz 5'10" | PG Woodburn | 2025 State OR (2025 Woodburn)
Veliz has been Mr. Steady for the Bulldogs at the point this season and further explemplified his leadership skills in a win over West Albany. He made good decisions with the basketball, running the offense while balancing his own scoring with finding his teammates. At the end of the game, he was money from the free throw line hitting 6-for-6 down the stretch. 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists on the night.
Eli Vizconde Eli Vizconde 5'11" | CG Mountainside | 2026 State OR (2026 Mountainside)
Huge second half for Vizconde, who has continued to settle into playing major minutes nicely for the Mavericks. The freshman caught fire from three, hitting four of his five total from deep after halftime, and also got a handful of points getting to the basket and to the line. He finished with 21 points.
