1. Afan Trnka – Salesian 2023
Trnka is a pass first point guard who knows when to score and look for his shot. He makes plays happen with dribble drives, able to get to the rim consistently. Very good ball-handler that can break down defensive pressure. Keeps the ball moving. Looks for the open teammates and kicks the ball out to open shooters. Defensively, he is strong on ball, slides feet and keeps up with ball-handler, quick hands to force turnovers.
2. Davion Upshaw – Lawndale
Upshaw stood out defensively playing the passing lanes and forcing turnovers. He’s quick in transition, pushes the ball well and attacks the defense. Does very well playing in the halfcourt, he makes the right play and finds the open teammate, always wiling to make the extra pass. He’s able to get past his defender off the dribble and get to the rim but does need to finish a little stronger.
3.
Trent Perry

– Harvard Westlake 2024
Perry does a good job controlling the tempo and running the halfcourt offense. He has good size and is in the mold of a big point guard. Uses his size to rebound the ball. Able to dribble against the defense and he keeps his head up on the break. Good handles, can get into the lane consistently and is able to finish at the basket through traffic.
4. Danaus Cockrell – Inglewood 2025
Cockrell is a smaller point guard but it doesn’t affect his game. He can attack off the dribble and is able to finish at the rim against taller players. Plays well in the halfcourt offense, keeps the ball moving and finds the open teammates with good passes. Uses screens well to get free and get a mismatch going to the basket. Does a good job recognizing advantages on the break and pushing the ball.
